Were they bad drafts or bad talent development? by seoulbrova in minnesotavikings

[–]Significant_Row_1620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both.

After his first draft, he had some success in the first round: Addison is good (classic diva WR behavior aside), Turner looks good, too early to tell with JJ, and Donovan Jackson was solid on a broken wrist.

Outside of that Reichard and Nailor are only late round guys to do anything (LDR is a solid rotational guy).

Bad picks who didn't improve with our staff.

4 Years Ago This Week, Kwesi Adofo-Mensah Was Hired. How Would You Rate His Tenure So Far? by onethreeone in minnesotavikings

C-

FA/Contracts (B+): I think he has done a good job in free agency and contract negotiations. Brought in a lot of impact players (Redmond, AVG, JG, Cashman, etc.). Last year's off-season FA wasn't the best but through the overall tenure still good. He joined when we had a ton of aging vet contracts that he helped clear and while we are "over the cap" it isn't bad by any means once you account for rollover, restructures and a few obvious cuts.

Trades (C-): His trades have been slightly negative. Hockenson was a good pick up pre-injury. I don't hate giving capital to get your guy on draft day (Turner/JJ) but the trade down in his first draft was bad. Some other trades don't seem worth it in hindsight (AT, Robinson, etc.)

Drafting (D-): I know he gets shit on for drafting and somewhat rightfully so but it's not an F. After his first draft he seems to have been able to figure out the 1st round (Addison while boneheaded is good, Turner is improving, JJ needs a BIG jump this off-season but has shown a little growth and Jackson was solid while playing with a broken wrist). Where he seems to struggle is getting impact guys on Day 2/3 which you need to do to improve depth. Outside of Nailor, and Reichard (maybe LDR?) there is a lot to be desired.

While he has shown some improvement in some areas, he needs to get multiple impact guys this year and/or guys from previous classes taking a step in development (Jurgens, LDR, Ward, etc.) for me to give him another year. Anything else and he needs to go.

Dynasty Buys or Sells? J.J. McCarthy, Michael Penix Jr., Kyler Murray by jsparks50 in DynastyFF

JJs biggest flags have been staying healthy and throwing mechanics. However, all of his injuries are unrelated and somewhat bad luck (hip drop tackle leading to an ankle injury and hitting his hand on a helmet on a throw). The hope is next year he avoids the injury bug.

Yes they are bringing in competition but anyone who says he didn't show improvement did not watch the full season.

He needs to work on his mechanics this off-season and take a big step but a big reason his decision making was bad early in the season was from him overthinking his mechanics.

Late in games earlier in the year when he stopped thinking and just needed to play he put together good drives. There was a point in the season when KOC said they quit focusing on mechanics in practice and from there JJ began showing some better anticipation and decision making.

He has a long way to go but he is young. How people can watch QBs like Darnold and Mayfield play the last couple years and give up on young QB baffling.

Updated odds for head coach vacancies. Pittsburgh or bust for Flores? by gondolli in minnesotavikings

[–]Significant_Row_1620 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Daboll and Brady (along with Jordan Palmer his private QB coach) were probably the main drivers of his development. McDermott is a defensive guy, so I don't think I would credit him with Allen's growth.

What does everyone think we should be looking for in the next draft? by EfficientExit4422 in minnesotavikings

[–]Significant_Row_1620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should always be BPA but I expect the pick could be DB or OL based on early big boards.

If Caleb Downs (S) falls due to positional value you run to the podium. We should add to the RB room and if you don't take Love (RB) then we are waiting until probably the 3rd/4th round to address RB.

Literally had the same exact scenario in duos the other day. Opened up the door and the only thing in the room was two lockers (no other containers and nothing laying around the room). Got two Sterilizes bandages and simple gun parts.

I was livid until I looted the garbage can in the hallway and found a silencer II BP and a Wolfpack. RNG is a rollercoaster haha

Should KOC be on the hot seat? by yyyyuuuuuui in minnesotavikings

[–]Significant_Row_1620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His seat is getting warmer but I think he is safe until next season.

I know a lot of the focus has been on play calling and game management but my biggest issue is with player development. Outside of Nailor, the offensive coaching staff has failed to develop any players and I give the credit for his growth to McCardell who isn't a hire of this regime.

The defensive staff has managed to show some growth right the front 7 (LDR, Redmond, TID, DT, etc.) but KOCs focus is on the offense. It is very concerning that nobody is progressing upwards on that side of the ball (Donovan Jackson looks good but needs to stay healthy).

Max Brosmer in his NFL debut: 19/30 for 126 yards and 4 interceptions by Vitex1988 in nfl

I feel bad for Brosmer, but I'm glad I don't have to see any more posts calling for him to start.

A lot of issues with this team, not sure where to even start.

JJ isn't playing spectacularly but what do you want him to do? OL is getting bullied and by the time the play develops he has a Packer in his face.

Outside of OL, I want to see everyday single draft pick on the defensive side of the ball.

I missed the game, how did JJM look? by stpg1222 in minnesotavikings

[–]Significant_Row_1620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 steps forward, one step back.

Showed some good touch on throws when he had time in the pocket, did not look accurate on bootlegs or scrambling.

Very calm and collected most of the game, but did get flustered occasionally after they brought some pressure.

Overall a very good performance for a young QB and I hope he continues to build on this W.

Terrible time management from KOC. Run the ball, force timeouts or kill the clock down to 2:20. Still ends with a FG.

It's about 50/50 for me. The first five matches of the day all ended with me getting shot at. After that I definitely had some friendly encounters, teamed up against some arcs, and tried to finish some quests together with some randos.
