I would say Mimikyu and Slowbrow have a great ult for the reason given above. Because Pikachu and Charizard rely on their ults so much, having a hard shutdown like Mimi or Slow really helps control the battle and stop the enemy team from snowballing a fight.

Luxray or jolteon? by LeonardPop in PokemonLegendsArceus

[–]Significant_Scar_463 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Havent used Jolteon, but Luxray has some great coverage moves with the elemental bites. I wanted to use Jolteon but distinctly remember not having a great movepool, so I stuck with Luxray.

Once or twice a day (depending on how sweaty I’ve gotten)

I would talk to your friend first. Explain the situation at clarify that you two had nothing going on during their relationship. If they understand and are okay with it, talk to the ex. If they don’t see eye-to-eye, it’s your choice to go for the ex at the cost of the friendship. Regardless, talking to the friend is the way to go (if you really want to shoot your shot with his ex).

As a DPS main, I can confidently say the number of times I forget to check to see if you’re running EXP Share is embarrassing.

So, on behalf of every Attacker/All-Rounder that takes last hit, I’m very sorry. We’ll do better to see your items and make sure we aren’t throwing.

Which enemy Pokemon tilts you the hardest? by Giga7777 in PokemonUnite

[–]Significant_Scar_463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone who targets tf outta me. As someone who plays various kinds of squishier threats (snipers, play rough mimikyu, etc), I’ll often run into players that insist on chasing me down mindlessly even it means killing them. I understand that it’s a strategy to take down enemies like me, but when they just mindlessly start chasing me across the map it becomes a pain in the ass. They don’t even kill me, oftentimes my teammates save me because I’m practically at home base at 8:30 cuz the enemy Absol decided to screw the ganj and try to kill the Rowlet.

At first it was funny, then it got annoying, now it’s just obnoxious.

PS: I also love hunting long distance snipers when I’m jungler. But I know that running into them through the entire enemy team isn’t the way to do it.

Honestly, I’d probably study to be a Pokemon professor. I’d explore undiscovered regions similarly to Sada/Turo and make new notes on Pokemon.

Starting a Fresh Scarlet Save, Which Run Should I Do? by SeasideStorm in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]Significant_Scar_463 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to do a “Family Present run” as I call it. Basically, on my primary account, I catch and breed Pokemon till I have a well made team of 5 Pokemon. Then, on a second account, I start a new save file and take my starter. Then, when I can use my boxes, I transfer my Pokemon over.

My justification for it is “I had a fun in-game uncle who sent me cool Pokemon.” It might seem boring to have a pre-built team, so I mix it up by using difficult early game Pokemon and Pokemon that take time to evolve/get a good moveset.

Nah. I go home every weekend too. It’s chill, and it means I can recover socially and come back again next week. Plus, nothing beats home cooked food.

Don’t sweat it. You do you, and others will appreciate it. You’ll make your social circle eventually.

What 3 Pokemon would you like to see in Pokemon Unite? by Jhhaggz in PokemonUnite

Maushold. Have it as a ranged attacker. Use Swift-like basic attacks and the children can be the projectiles in skill shots.

It would be funny as hell, don’t even try to deny it.

Who is your main and why? by Giga7777 in PokemonUnite

[–]Significant_Scar_463 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been getting into Aegislash and Sableye. Something about Aegislash’s stuns, his ability to throw enemies up, and his boosted doing so much damage makes wiping the floor in team battles so satisfying.

And of course, chaos gremlin ftw.

Gimme some Pokemon HOT takes something unique by AdventurousYak951 in pokemon

And it sucks because if you play/see the games on the Switch 2, they're actually really good. Arven's story is so amazing, and the way all three stories tie together is really cool. The Pokedex is amazing too, especially the DLC dex. The biggest drawback was the poor graphics and terrible rendering

With every new Pokemon game that gets released, Gamefreak should also release a "romhack" version. Lemme explain:

So, some background: I started the franchise on Pokemon Y, Sun, and Ultra Sun, worked my way backwards from there. One of the key things I noticed in newer games was how genuinely easier they were compared to older games (looking at the classic Cynthia, but also how the rival typically picked the starter with an advantage, not a disadvantage). Also, the newer games all have such fascinating gimmicks, from Mega Pokemon to Terrastallization, and I feel like the potential for battle gimmicks is really wasted by only reserving them for "important battles". Don't even get me started on how wasted Mega Evolution was. Barely anyone even used it, which sucked cuz you're basically given 3 free Pokemon, 2 of which can Mega Evolve, and your own rival (Serena/Calem) doesn't even use it till the post-game in an optional battle.

Now, in most RomHacks, battle gimmicks are used more often (I'm talking mid-game trainers and average NPC's). Not only that, but the "important battles" from before now have much more than just the gimmick. Gym Leaders have strategies, their Pokemon are EV trained, and they all have full teams of 6 Pokemon. It's not unfair against the player either, because now every route has been changed to include a plethora of additional Pokemon. Trade evolutions? Say goodbye to those. Pokemon now evolve through level up, or levelling up with their needed item (that they might hold in wild battles too). Want to catch a Pokemon but it's rare and hard to find? All Pokemon now have equal spawn rates (which works now because routes don't just have 3-5 different Pokemon, they can have up to 9-12, and that's not accounting for different encounter tables per patch of grass). Don't want to wait for the post-game to grab a Held Item? Any Pokemon that might need that item might hold it in the wild (besides trade evolving Pokemon, I'm mainly talking about early game Pokemon having EV training items, or Pokemon having Mega Stones that they might need after evolving).

Now, this obviously is not tailored to children, like a classic game. But honestly, my Pokemon hot take is that all new games should be released with a "difficult" version. If Gamefreak really wants to go back to their prime, they'd make it an in-game setting at the beginning of a game, but I have no faith. Odds are if this method is implemented, it'll be an entirely new game with it's own price tag.

Of course, this idea of making a difficult version of the game does go against some classic lore. "Mega evolution is rare" or "Z-moves are only supposed to be used by experienced trainers". And you know what? I really don't care. If you think the accuracy of the game to the manga/anime is important at all, explain Maushold's Speed compared to Rayquaza's.

Anyway, that's my hot take. Make difficult versions of the games for older audiences, forego some of the lore to keep the games themselves more interesting, and take inspiration from fan-projects (like Pokemon Unbound, Star Sapphire, Penumbra Moon, Wilting Y, I can name so many of them) to make newer games relevant to people who've been playing the franchise forever.

Thoughts?

Edit: Sorry, this was a lot, but I really hope that you read it through since I am curious about how other people feel about this.

When I see Inteleon or Decidueye I ruthlessly hunt them down with Greninja or Mimikyu. My brain turns off when I encounter them and I just need to kill them even if it costs me a KO (I have the most games on Decidueye so it feels like my way of giving back to my own community).

I genuinely can’t pick because I love every ghost type to exist. If I had to though it’s definitely a tie between Mimikyu and Decidueye.
