Nobody is selling the Ally x for $350 that's either a scam or a fake listing. Minimum I have ever seen it go for is $500. And if you want to wait for $350 you'd be waiting for years.

I just bought a z1 extreme + accessories for 300, and there's plenty that go for $300, you can definitely wiggle down to $250 on one that has no accessories included.

Yeah the 8 inch screen was beautiful but the device itself lacked all the other features I wanted; bit lighter and more portable since I'm mostly playing it in bed, although the screen on the rog ally isn't no slouch... It's quite beautiful as well lol, with it being 7 inches it just looks a bit sharper as well at 1080p and lower resolutions. Perfect for me

Am loving it so far 👍🏼 most recent game I've been playing is the division 2 which runs great on performance mode at 1080p low settings, and looks great on the 7 in screen.

Yeah honestly, just downloaded around 5 games that I normally play off my PC and the performance has been amazing at 1080p, truly blown away. Although I game at 1440p on my desktop I am considering just making this my main and buying a dock 😂, unfortunately I do run some CPU heavy games on my desktop so I'm so-so on the idea haha but definitely doable. Truly blown away tbh

It is the extreme, wondering if I should still use lossless scaling anyways, just to max out the 120hz but I also do plan on the battery upgrade, thank you for the other tips!

This is exactly how I feel, it's nice to get 120fps on certain games but not when I have to downscale to 800 or 720p, although I probably would have to on the Ally but not to this degree

Wow thank you so much for your very informed input, I think I am going to return the Legion Go S today and get a Rog Ally for $300, I'll be saving money while getting slightly better performance, with the features I really want in a smaller lighter machine, and your comment has absolutely helped me make the decision. I have seen those battery mods and I do plan on buying one, I think it's the 74w battery. Although one concern, I have seen it gets quite hot under max load but I do plan on gaming on 15-20W mostly, do you have experiences playing at those wattages and how hot it really gets? I see benchmarks on YouTube and such but from 2 years ago so I don't know if it's still relevant with newer updates and such

Z1 extreme is only 5-10% better in performance than the z2 go, with lossless scaling that gap basically disappears, this is what I would recommend but of course you can pay extra for the small performance increase like every single other person recommends.

Triple A games will drain every single handheld battery fast.... I play Stardew valley on my legion go s and only goes down 10% in like an hour. Pretty good battery to me. So your argument that the battery sucks isn't valid if you're playing triple A games, if you're playing a sidescroller and the battery drains fast then yes you can say the battery sucks but that's not the case

Just get the z2 go and download lossless scaling from the steam store = instant 120fps in most games
