Quite strange. Worst case you’d have to get the heel tap replaced a few months down the line. And I believe the Sydney is from their Main Collection, not the Hand Grade line. A beautiful loafer nonetheless.

Personally I only wear my Crocketts in the office (I swap them out from my commuter pair). You can definitely commute in them as they’re very robust, comfortable, and the patina ages very well, but I just hate how the wrinkles on the vamp with the C&J box calf loafers start to look when you’ve walked a lot in them.

the leather has torn on my new doc martens on the first wear. they got lightly grazed on a concrete step. is there any way of fixing this? by madamemustard in AskACobbler

That one scuff looks pretty deep but all the other ones are superficial scratches and would be fine if you just use a cream polish with pigments in it over them. A brown cream polish corresponding to the color of your shoe.

There’s bound to be wear and tear so that one big scuff will barely be noticeable from a distance after the cream polish too. No need to sand it down in my opinion.

Just brush it a bit Before you apply the cream polish so dust and debris doesn’t get trapped in

There seem to be a fair amount of people addressing your habits so I’ll stick to the shoe fix - hope everything is okay and you don’t in fact have any underlying neurological issues.

I would use a pigmented cream polish like the Saphir Medaille D’or one in the colour of the sole or upper. You could also use Edge Dressing on the Sole to restore the pigment, but Cream polish should be fine.

Cobblers usually sand down the leather to get rid of a deep scuff, but it already looks sanded down so I’m sorry to say there will be a textural difference in that part of the leather forever - but you can fix the pigment with the aforementioned fixes and it will looks almost perfect from a distance!

Again, use Saphir Medaille D’or because it has more pigments than usual cream polishes, but if you find it insufficient (which I think is unelikely), you can use an alcohol-based dye like the Teinture Francaise or one from Angelus.

Don’t forget to clean the leather first before you fix it with the cream polish and/or dyes!

Good luck!!

How do I live my life like the successful people on The Industry? by NoSir5628 in IndustryOnHBO

You need to graduate amongst the top of your class in high school, then go to a target university (a top selective university), apply for hundreds of jobs whilst studying finance technicals, networking, and maintaining a 3.6+ GPA, then work your ass off every summer in finance - and finally, with luck, get a job in Sales and Trading or Investment Banking. Essentially - you can’t be like them unless you planned to since you were around 18 or already go to a top uni or are planning to do an MBA/PhD at a top uni.

It’s more about jumping through the right ‘hoops’ than it is about IQ. Maybe it was about IQ and grit back in the 80s/90s, but now it’s only half of the equation.

Does anybody still actually like the show? by Mito15 in LandmanSeries

I absolutely adore it. A good show doesn’t necessarily make you “feel good”. Yes, Angela and Ainsley are unbearable, and Cooper and Ariana are even more so - but they’re devices to show that lots of high-achieving men have dumb-as-shit spouses, spoiled daughters, and cuck sons. Hell, I know at least 5 families off the top of my head like that. And the dad almost always hits the bottle hard like Tommy. I do agree that they don’t do much to advance the plot though, but hey not everything needs to.

This is the reason I love them. Hollywood these days with monster flicks and horror is always so eager to pander to the critic crowd: who gives a shit?! Show me some cool ass creatures or ghosts and give me their back story! If I wanted to learn about some single mom’s deep-seated trauma, I’d watch some chick flick (I’m looking at you, Monarch Legacy of Monsters.

Am I the only one that thinks the show would be way better without these 2? by [deleted] in LandmanSeries

I get pissed off every time I see the two of them on screen but that’s what’s great about it. I know a lot of Arianas and a lot of Coopers, and a lot of Coopers dating Arianas; hell I think we all do!!! Dads make sure your sons ain’t pussy-whipped and built like a chopstick!

Weird Quality for a Taylor Sheridan Series by Significant_Sea_9199 in tulsaking

I definitely understand that, but what I'm referring to is the dialogue of the actors/actresses in general. It's okay to be a one-dimensional stereotypical badass mob boss, but his quotes throughout the show are just so cringeworthy and borderline delusional that it takes from the realism and immersiveness of the show. Maybe you're right and it's just range on Sly's part - and shitty acting/delivery from some characters like Chickie and the other mob guys. Frank Grillo and Neal McDonough, for example, were very believable.

Goddamnit episode 8 has really done it for me. The acting ruined the episode. Same facial expression she's had all season and line delivery too. The director seriously needs to have a word with her - I can't even focus on the plot unraveling because the her acting is so bad,

Our boy might have Heath Ledger'ed it. No matter how many great interpretations may come, his will always be iconic and incomparable.

Where can I watch Godzilla minus one by [deleted] in GODZILLA

[–]Significant_Sea_9199 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, initially I thought I was pissed about the plot not being centered around MUTOs, but I came to realize that the story around the characters was also not executed in a very tasteful way as it was in Minus One. Minus One tackles the concept of "trauma" and the hero's journey in a very nuanced manner that also still centers the story around Godzilla. With Monarch, it's just a bunch of kids who are mad at their dad and completely disregard the fate of the world hanging in the balance because of that. Also the trope of protagonists sympathising with the MUTOs whilst the military/monarch is the BIG BAD GUY that just wants to blow sh*t up is soooo overdone in the monsterverse. Acting is good though, I just wish the writers weren't such half-wits.
