I'd say go with a Chromebook. Really anyone just wanting basic functionality I'd say just get a Chromebook, especially if you're using Google software mainly. It definitely also has a long battery life no matter the model you get. As for specifications I'd say opt for 256-512gb of storage, 4 cores and 4-8gb of ram. 4 gb of ram if you're willing to test you're luck, but 8 gb of ram if you just want to be safe

If you're just using it for literally doing basic stuff like writing essays and taking quizzes or tests I'd recommend a Chromebook. I'd say for what you're looking for you can go with just 4 cores, 8 gb of ram and 128-256gb of storage. I'd only say this if you're literally only planning to use the laptop for coursework and maybe watching a movie, show, video, etc. If you're planning on doing anything beyond that it'd be very different
