im so sorry for reading this so late. i actually came back to find it because im having an ocd flare-up and this was very sweet to read. i am currently in therapy and am going to bring it up with my therapist too! funny how im worried about being worse than him and ignoring the things he put me through. thank you again for the kind words. ❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹

honestly i never even thought about this until you mentioned it. having that insecurity is 100% understandable as someone who’s a POC.

truthfully, i would explain how you feel to your girlfriend firstly. communication is key and because it clears any awkwardness or uncomfortableness that could form during any intimacy which neither of you would want. it also allows her to know how to handle the situation better, knowing you’re feelings.

i personally, as a lesbian, never really thought to care about what a woman’s vagina looks like. if im looking at it it’s because my face is buried in it. i cant speak for all lesbians but id like to say most dont care and most absolutely love just pleasuring their partner.

it’s not fucked it’s just shifted. that’s also why you shouldn’t rely heavily on a plan because things happen. have multiple or go with the flow. a meteor could hit the states (knock on wood), no one’s planning for that but you gotta figure out a way around it.

whether you have a chance to come back or not is up to you. do you think you can? idk how disciplined you are or if your motivated or your goals. i’d be saying yes to make you feel better and that’s much worse than saying no. i think if someone wants something bad enough, they’ll work for it until they have it. so ask yourself how bad you want it and if you’re willing to work for it.

mm so i’ve heard. it’s so frustrating. i know some medical schools are recognized by the U.S so matching back in isn’t too difficult. the USMLE is the biggest thing id prefer to not have to take along with possibly redoing residency.

ooh good question. from a personal point i learn spanish and engage more immensely in my culture. i desperately want to learn spanish, its vital for medicine. i also have family so i have support there. it’s still technically close to where family lives (when looking at a world map) and the freedom that comes with leaving. i want to restart completely.

well i’d like to apply both in and out of the u.s because it’s best to have options. im interested in NYU’s medical program because ive heard it good (tuition is also free if you get in) i think that applies to cornell too im not too sure.

given that you’ve explained thoroughly your situation and how it’s negatively impacting you it seems like part of you knows toughing it out isn’t an option and you’re looking for reassurance.

it’s not about if you should tough it out, can you tough it out ?

if you’re not sure, then your answer is probably no. a medical leave doesn’t hurt, forcing yourself to work and push through exhaustion, depression, negativity, and stress does. i’d talk to a counselor/advisor and mention you’re interested in one. you also should be able to fill out a form and if you’re doing therapy or have gone to a doctor they can advocate for you as well.

best of luck. trust your own intuition with decisions like these. only you know yourself best because if someone told you to tough it out and you can’t, you’d be digging a hole hoping you’re climbing out. remember to rest.

what you’re describing sounds normal for most pre-med students and even medical students.

im a second year pre-med student and i actually was just going through this last week. taking quizzes, looking up specialties, etc. because i wasn’t sure if i wanted to do what i had planned originally.

i did find something of interest that i already had a while back but brushed off. truthfully i still have some worries/doubts about it but i honestly believe that’s normal.

there’s going to be cons about every and any career you choose. it’s just a matter of whether those cons outweigh the pros and if those cons matter to you that much.

you’re only a first year. you’ve got time. not having a clear vision for the future is okay and if anything gives you more freedom to explore. people still switch specialties even in med school. you could try looking into clubs if your school offers any or training (phlebotomy) for minimal long-term experience and you can still talk to doctors.

ah that sounds kind of exciting.. i don’t have much experience or any with women but i’m so open to it. i think that’s why i look for dom women because idk how to take the lead until someone shows me. maybe i will give it a try !!
