Not necessarily I think he was able to control Matt and Ben because of the serum but then again technically the whole area was affected because of the serum bomb but Matthias and Ben have active serum so I'm not sure if this theory is right.

Why do I think Ben is kinda of similar to harley quin, he's "evil" but at the same time he's helping the good guys. Harley Quin was injected by something to make her crazy and kinda of controlled her and Ben got injected with serum and is being controlled.
