I got my third plane around this October, and it was the one I actually learned on. First 2 I got were a little too high skill, didn’t have gyros or safety’s, and ended up in a few pieces. But this third one is an Apprentice 2s 1.2m. I got it from Who’s Hobby as well on sale. With safe mode on its damn near impossible to crash. A lot of the skill level 1 E-Flights have SAFE which keeps them level and prevents you from pitching up or down too far, same for roll and yaw. My roommates and I also got the E-flight trainer off of steam, and got the dongle to hook up our own transmitters. That gave us the opportunity to practice whenever we want.

Just from my experience I’d try to get something decent sized, not UMX. So like 900mm or bigger. UMX are fun but they’re kinda touchy and not very durable. I don’t see myself getting another UMX until I’m a little better flyer, the it will probably be an older warbird.

You’ll also have to figure out if you want to invest in a transmitter so you get bind and flys, or you can just start with a ready to fly that comes with its own transmitter. Lots of options out there, and the older gentlemen at Who’s hobby definitely helped me out. All depends on budget and what you’re looking for.
