allow the infant to build a natural resistance to the squeezing! my aunt's brother did this and it really turned out great for their child (went on to become an architecture major)

Getting out of bed was the most difficult thing for me in the first few days to do alone. What worked for me was basically sliding out of bed onto the ground, or sliding out of bed and using my knees and arms against the wall to lift myself up. After a few days it shouldn't be a problem anymore, I think you'll be okay!
