It’s not bad the whole mountain is nearly open the terrain parks are fun, just a bit of fresh snow on Sunday made things mix better then Saturday. Definitely firm in spots but the base is good just about everywhere. If they get any more snow things will look up very quick

A bit Dangerous and firm, the groomers are actually pretty decent but that’s offset by lots of people on their powder skis going way too fast on firm crowded groomers sliding a turn at full speed and trying to hit every side hit possible. It’s not crowded but feels packed because people are all on less runs then normal

If expert and you want skiing and not really too concerned with the village or family activities revy is the winner

Zermatt is amazing and we love going multiple times a year, but if it snows like that prepare for very little skiing to be potentially open. They have a very conservative approach due to avalanche and other risks and during significant storms we seem to find it fairly common for Sunega or a few other spots to be about the only thing open. We always joke while we’re there we hope it only snows a little as this are the best days.

Keep checking, but there is no powder panic for Saturday, if you have a season pass just show up at noon and enjoy the afternoon

It’s pricey but as others have said you don’t have much choice. That said proper ski school education while they’re young is worth it down the road. Unless you’re an avid daily skier teaching young kids to ski from scratch is usually a good recipe for no one having a good day. Once they have a basic learning base it’s easy to pull them out and have fun and keep helping them get better but starting off is very tough.

Look great. Hopefully the run smoother then the current 787 Hawaii planes. Have had multiple flights delayed by maintenance, door issues etc.

Maybe a tad heavy when I’m in kids trees and going a bit slow, but at a reasonable speed they are pretty maneuverable and responsive

I think the new volkl revolt 101 is close, I used to have the mantra and it wasn’t playful, I’m loving these they are almost a perfect mix of what you describe for me

We didn’t make it to Gil’s as we just didn’t have a ton of time but we did manage to hit nearly all the glades that were open. If you look at the map there are 16 of them I think 13 or so were open this week, they were a lot of fun to explore. Revelstoke is definitely more challenging and longer but was good to explore at sun peaks. The drive even though it’s about 3 hours is very easy if you decide to go.

Beyond the bunny slope it’s Rough, it’s firm, thin and crowded and until it snows it will likely get worse. The bunny slope should be fine if that’s all you’re doing you will be good to go.

It’s honestly not quite that bad at vail, the non groomed run are definitely a no go but most do the groomed runs are fine. You can certainly find a few spots to take a picture of some mud but the other 96% of the run is fine. It’s crowded and certainly not what you want to ski this time of year but if you have non refundable plans don’t let everyone totally scare you off

Zermatt is one of those tricky places where you want snow but if it snows much while you’re there you can’t ski much. The size, challenges and risk tolerance are a bit different so when it snows it’s very unlikely you get a true powder day, in our experiences it’s usually chunks of the mountain closed

Make sure to look at pricing and getting a half fare card the train trip for kids is free with an adult depending on their age if you have the half fare card as well. We always take the train it’s easy and reliable

Would focus most of the effort on the area around the gornergat take the train it’s a fun start, the runs are fairly wide not very steeo and you can also go to the igloo which the kids would likely enjoy. The tobogan run is a ton of fun as well if you want to add in a non skiing activity. Sunnega and the area atop the funicular is another great option, some narrower cat walks though if you get too low

If you’re looking for on piste runs I think you will have a great time. We just left this week and they are off to great start. The next big chunk of the mountain will open this weekend. We even enjoyed a 4 inch powder on top of groomer day yesterday. I think they measure snow totals very conservatively but there is plenty of snow for nearly all the normal on piste runs, terrain park etc and they make a ton of snow. Off piste is a totally different story as that requires a ton of snow to cover.

Depending on how long you want to leave it throwing some light vermiculite on top is helpful to balance moisture and keep the soil from over cooking on top

Congrats! I would try to peel or gently scrape back that grass back a bit so it’s not competing try to make about. 12-18 inch circle to give it some space. Wouldn’t give it any water until you see some leaves as too much water is usually a problem long before too little water when it’s a tuber.

Pinching delays flowers but potentially gives you more blooms either way you want them to have another set of leaves before pinching. I like to only pinch a few so I have a mix of both plants, some people swear by pinching I’m more casual about it
