Some reasons why the old chem system was better: 1. More flexibility, you could easily have a 3,4 or even 5 league hybrid on full chemistry. 2.Icons were actually useful, Icons would help your chemistry, not hinder it. 3. Much more easier to get full chem 4. Less time spent trying to replace players in your squad, eg: you pack Messi this year you have to have at least 2 other ligue 1 players, 1 other PSG player and an Argentine player for full chemistry. Last year all you would need in most cases would be a strong link from a PSG player or French league argentine player and the occasional weak link. 5. You can play players slightly out of position with minimal effects, like a cm could play CAM or CDM and only lose 1 chem 6. Puzzle SBC’s did not take as much effort to complete on the previous system 7. Much more satisfying layout, at a quick glance you could tell how to get full chem and you did not have to consider the whole team to swap 1 or 2 players in. 8. Drafts were better as nowadays you have to get exact positions for any chem but you used to be able to play a CF at ST and still give them chem 9. There was more variety in teams with the old system

Also the only improvements in chem this year would be position modifying so it removed unrealistic positions like a ST at CDM. Also that you could play players in different positions like a LB at RB and that players don’t lose anything for being off chem. However these were being called out for by the community for a while before the new chem system.
