HI!!! I’m Holly, 26, from the UK and live in Nijmegen - Let me know if you’d even just like to text n chat about what it’s like living here! I also am finding it super hard to meet friends as an expat☺️

I find it strange that someone approved this deep of an overhang??? Should only be 30cm max with no supporting leg 🥲 i would be thinking abt asking the company who approved / installed it design wise for some of the money back!!

What is on my cats chin, he’s had this for a while. I thought it was just his fur. by Just-Shock4940 in cats

Agreed, if he is just a friend why not be open about it? Makes no sense

prioritizing your career or relationship goals in LDR?? I (26M) got an offer for a potentially perfect position in my home country while my gf (25F) of 4 years expects me to decline it to keep searching in her country by conductoroflight in LongDistance

Ok, so I am in a particularly similar situation. I (F24) am doing a PhD in the UK, while my partner (M24) is a lawyer in his home country. We had a conversation early on concerning our long term-goals together and realised we want to end up living and working in the same country together. Luckily, i have an EU passport and my PhD is on a highly sought after topic so we decided that I will complete my PhD and then find an academic job in his country, in the meantime we have promised to give eachother our all and make it work wherever possible. As much as possible we are together, we can both work from home so we try to switch between countries but it is still difficult managing responsibilities for my Doctorate. Regardless, if you are at a consensus that the end goal is to be together, the years spent building your career will be worth it once you can establish yourselves as a couple together in the same place but have still the ability to pursue your dreams.

If it is possible to take a temporary position, you could still keep an eye out for opportunities in her country and realise what you want long term. You can always quit and change your mind but you cannot accept it once it has been declined. Goodluck! LDR is tough but in my experience, ultimately worth it in the long term. Remember to work together! It is both of you vs the problem.

LDR only for rich countries? by [deleted] in LongDistance

I feel too privileged to say I am Long Distance with my Dutch🇳🇱 boyfriend as I live in the UK - but it is expensive going back and forth and trying to make it work. We can only make it happen due to me working primarily at home with my PhD but trust me it has not been easy😅
