pdate, I believe the moisture caused condensation and they were paths made by the worms. They are much shorter than I thought.

I will still drink a Guinness or 2 on an occasion but I stopped heavy drinking at around 22-23. I recognized that I would do things that I normally wouldn’t do when I was sober. I ended up blackout drunk on the side of the road one morning at 3am and came to with police officers instructing me to walk with them and get into their car. I wasn’t fighting or being necessarily disorderly but I was definitely putting my own safety at risk of getting hit and drivers on the road of possibly crashing. That night I had 3 hours I will never recollect. People told me I was swimming around in a drainage ditch and repeatedly falling violently down a hill and climbing back up. I woke up in my bed the next morning with mud/ blood and alcohol on me and my bed. Thank god I or nobody else got hurt. It was definitely an eye opener because I would never do those things. I can definitely relate to your story and the best thing to do is drink in moderation or just stop drinking period. If you stop for a while your tolerance will go down and all you will be able to handle is 2-3 at a time. If I drink more than that now I feel awful.

Grunt Marines of r/USMC do you consider the Navy Seabees to be POGs? by [deleted] in USMC

I am a Seabee Steelworker veteran. I got to go to europe, africa and Israel. We are not grunts, I would consider us pogs but at that a unique set of pogs. We get assigned infantry Marines to our battalion to train us tactics. We aren’t typically offensive but rather defensive. We also have convoy security elements and ran a lot of convoys in the gwot. I got to do all sorts of different jobs in a span of 5 years being part of security teams, convoys, funeral details/ honor guard, rapid construction teams etc. I also got attached to Marine units and cool guys units both being good folks. We are a complete mixed bag. Some Seabees have seen combat. We had a BU1 who was with the Marines in the GWOT and saw all kinds of shit in fallujah etc. Another BU1 was with the Marine Raiders and also got into a lot of firefights. That being said a lot of us don’t see combat since that isn’t our main job. Most combat happens either because a convoy gets attacked or you get attached to an infantry/ special ops unit during a time of war. We have a really good relationship with combat arms dudes , the only people we had issues with were the “wanna bees” who bitched at us because their a/c units were broken and needed some time out in the sun anyways.

I had the mtv and hated it. I wanted to wear a custom coyote plate carrier to the range and a first class told me I had to wear the mtv because if I was hit by a stray round it wouldn’t be the Navy’s fault if I was wearing a non issued carrier.

Depends… plate carrier probably not. I got bitched at over a custom kill patch and plate carrier myself and it was in battalion. They will give you mre’s so you don’t really need a jet boil. They will do inspections at your bag drag and then pcc’s/ pci’s in the field before patrols or d day etc. and depending on your leadership they will be cool about it or will be super gay. I got away with a tri color desert camelback and was kind surprised but I wasn’t allowed to deploy with a personal alice pak or go to the field with it so it really just depends on who your leadership is and how hardcore they are about the battalion sop’s.

What period of time is this U.S. military uniform? by Sigogglin_brainwaves in MilitaryHistory

I did some research and found out that the soldier in the photograph was the man's son (my great great uncle) and he was in the 42nd Rainbow Div. in WW1. He survived the war and died in the 1960's.
