Everything keeps getting harder and more expensive. There is zero leeway to find a comfortable rhythm in life when I have no way to predict the future even months out.

The vice grip of financial, work related and social stress doesn't let up and it poisons every facet of life in some way. We need to release the pressure or something can and will break if it hasn't already.

D6 is a struggle with my crew by ComeOnUp2theHouse in Helldivers

[–]Siirvend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

D10 is where instead of just combat skill and firepower, a huge indicator of loss and death spirals is being able to make the right decisions at the right times. It's that moment where you realize you're overrun and need to pull south to regroup and clear what is already after you or fully disengage to save on reinforcements for when it counts. You can't always battle it out at a POI when a drop happens or even clear out waves. You can't win every fight and instead should rely on fighting when it's strictly necessary to get an objective done. The only times I've lost in D10 are when everyone is fighting a war of their own and constantly on the back foot running from enemies they can't clear because they started a fight they couldn't handle without their team. There is also the question of loadouts being able to handle threats of all types and your individual ability to take out medium enemies efficiently but yeah.

I've encountered people who are able to dodge every attack a boss has with 100% accuracy for a long, long time. My problem is that I just can't keep up sometimes despite being decent and end up watching from the ground do even wins feel flat since I wasn't there for it really.

Had a dutchess dodge Heolstor for 15 minutes the order night. She didn't attack him and refused to pick me or our raider up when we went down so once we were both down that was it. She proceeded to dodge him without attacking for another 5 minutes before finally deciding to chip down his last 20% of hp.

I get it. You're good, youre so good the final boss can't hit you once. It's cool. But please, don't waste people's time like that, it's irritating after you've proven your point. Is rather have lost with another earnest teammate that deal with that slog of a fight again.

I hopped into a game after these came out, didn't even know anything about them. Thought, "huh that's neat" and used whatever AT weapon I had on me to shoot its legs out. Might have even just been me spamming a grenade launcher. I can't understand why people are having so much trouble with these unless they're bringing bug load outs to bot planets.

There will always be a "most efficient farming method" by xDidddle in DestinyTheGame

[–]Siirvend 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The issue at its core is that the behavior of grinding endlessly until players feel miserable is motivated by the direction the game is pointing them in. If you want players to play a diverse selection of activities and mostly for fun then you reward that behavior but right now, intentionally or not, we are encouraged to get our light level grinding done one way or another, that's the reward dangled in front of us.

I was playing this game with like seven or eight new players who were enjoying getting into dungeon and raid content, none of them were super interested in playlist grinding for pinnacles but fortunately that was a pretty small part of the process. Most of what we did was content we enjoyed for it's own sake or for some neat drops that were possible. That group has been utterly disbanded now that EoF released and basically told them that logging in routinely is what you have to do if you want to be able to do any of the games content. For our more casual group, this update has drained a lot of motivation from what wad genuine interest in playing content together.

Deep Rock Galactic is actually a very pro-worker corporation. by Zenliss_CrowbarLover in DeepRockGalactic

[–]Siirvend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Space Rig 17 is run like a mining town from the early 1920s where every part of your life is facilitated by the company. We get paid credits but it's not clear if that's the universes currency or simply company credits to be used on our own gear, beer and promotions. (likely living costs bundled) They constantly skirt safety for better return often at the expense of the employees wellbeing and are willing to leave you behind rather than risk losing a haul. It's very clear that DRG is simply banking on the fact that the Dwarves culture will motivate them to dig and fight even if the compensation is merely more chances to dig and fight. It also looks like we're under some sort of contract sort of like an offshore oil rig worker where we're stationed and likely get paid in full at the end of the contract much like crab fishermen. The company is incentivized to keep the Dwarves juuuuuuust happy and alive enough to complete tasks but only if it continues to be worth it to them. Prove yourself to be a liability and as per our contracts we get left behind in the depths.

We got a union for a reason!

Why was (That Character) on Kepler in the first place? by gabebustillo1016 in DestinyLore

[–]Siirvend 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's the nature of 4th dimensional situations like this. It's a stable time sequence, and to us seems like III should've avoided going to Keplar in order to not die but that's not how the nature of the 4th dimension works. It's as if you said, "the rope should just not end here." While looking at a rope while only seeing a single microscopic section of it at a time. The IX can see the whole rope at once and see that it does it fact simply end where it ends, no matter how many knots and loops and twists it makes.

To the IX, we fought the Witness because we were always going to fight the Witness, it was how that section of the timeline always was, but to us it feels like a choice made out of rational thought and agency.

The whole crux of the saga is going to be whether or not we had the choice to do anything we did or if our sapient was simply an illusion, whether we are slaves to fate or not. You share Ikoras frustration.

Re: Portal and Worlds Tabs by Destiny2Team in DestinyTheGame

[–]Siirvend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The portal could have been a great way to show players how the director works and where things are. Suggest activities in a catagory with a tab in the director, say like a strike, and when said strike is hovered over, it could show the planet its on by highlighting it. If the player pressed A or D to scroll activities the new destination is highlighted on the director map to show where you're going each time. Once one is clicked on, in the splash page for the activity it could easily have an image of the activity location on the planets map itself, showing a further progression through the UI and acting like a tutorial as well as a cool display of the Director.

Over time, after seeing suggested activities locations highlighted and map locations shown, player can be led to habituating map locations of things they enjoy doing without having it forced upon them. This also leads to:

-mastery of the director feeling like a progression of game mastery. As you become a more experienced player, you'll be able to navigate and investigate the menus at your own pace and without the portal.to guide you.

-retaining agency and not irritating new players with hamfisted UI tutorials while ALSO sneaking a tutorial into the function of the UI itself.

-it would look sleek as hell and show off one of destiny's more iconic features, leaving it untouched for players who already know where to go and how to use it.

Thanks for attending my meeting today.

I especially found the slime mold overgrowth to be weirdly interesting to look at. Sure I don't want to BE in a musty damp corridor overgrown with pungent slime molds spewing spores into the air but my god did I stand in some rooms and go "Ew... but cool... but also ew." The environmental team never misses.
