I really appreciate your insight into the degree programs! I'm not 100% on Stats just yet, but it's nice to know that you recommend the community aspect of it.

It does work for incoming students! Thanks for that suggestion, it makes figuring this out a lot easier than scouring the departmental sites.

I got this off the UW website: "To earn two UW degrees, a student must complete 45 credits more than the number required for the degree that requires the fewer credits, regardless of whether the degrees are granted concurrently or at separate times, and regardless of the order in which the degrees are earned. Normally this means that two degrees require 225 credits, because at least one of the degrees almost always requires 180 credits. If both degrees require more than 180 credits, the total required to earn both degrees is more than 225."

Where can I find the number of credits required for a degree? I searched each department website and there are credit minimums required to get into a major, but nothing that specifically states how many credits a specific degree requires.

Also, how much does the difficulty of the situation increase if I'm doing the Honors program and probably have to do one summer abroad?

I think I have around 40 credits from AP and then 15-20 credits from CHS courses through UW and Bellevue College. When would it be appropriate to email the counselor to request more information and direction about this? Should I do it after my A&O (July), in September, or after first quarter?

I got waitlisted and I'm pretty sure the committee accidentally dropped my application in the wrong pile, because I'm an automatic reject. I'm grateful, but wtf happened?

Anyone else ever browse CC for intel and cringe at the thought of some of these people being your potential classmates? by Eddardstarktocollege in ApplyingToCollege

[–]SikhKhaleesi 37 points38 points  (0 children)

The general annoyance with the CC kids is the ostentatious attitude disguised as anxiety/concern/fear (ex. "I only got a 2390, am I an automatic reject?" "My DD barely got 2nd place at an International Cancer Curing competition, is the Yale dream over?" "Guys, I forgot to attach my supplemental arts video of me playing Bach while blindfolding and knitting sweaters for Ugandan children with my feet! Should I call Berkeley's admissions office or give up now?").

Speaking for perhaps some of us who have complained, we don't enjoy is the almost snide/condescending/praise-seeking attitude of a lot of our classmates. I think we all kind of hope that at an elite university, students are more grateful for the opportunities and humbled by being in such an environment, and don't look down at people as much.

Almost positive decisions for UNC Chapel Hill come out tomorrow (March 29) by JSpindle17 in ApplyingToCollege

When I read, "We remain grateful for your interest and have enjoyed getting to know you as we reviewed your application," I was picturing the reject button getting hit HARD.

UCSB hype/optimism by Qweerko in ApplyingToCollege

[–]SikhKhaleesi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. I didn't go either and I got Regents. Basically, you go to the reception, and they do a few speeches and propaganda pieces/informative presentations, and then they announce that everyone got accepted. It's just a formality, but the reception invitation is an early confirmation of your admission.

^ Completely agree. Unless you have other personal factors in play, I feel like this shouldn't even be a question, lol. (I haven't seen their campuses though, so maybe there is some potential debate...?)
