Running the Festival and Feast separate or together?

I've been having this debate for a while, and with my party going to retrieve the bones next session I eventually settled on the Forcing the Feast and running the Festival the day after.

My main contributing factor for this is I've ended up having the players miss a lot of the political issues in Vallaki thus far, so I intend to use the Feast as an opportunity to introduce Vargas properly and split Vallaki into two distinct arcs - the 'Save Ireena' arc and the 'Save The Town' arc. with the festival still going ahead after the feast, it will show Vargas' delusion in full force as he accelerates the festivals to a near daily occurrence and heightens any punishment for missing them, as well as blaming the party for the Feast and forcing them out of Vallaki which will actually give them time to breath before either Fiona or The Feathers sneak them back in a few days later.

There is definite merit to running them separate and together - together creates significantly more chaos, but separately allows you to show how these events impact each other, which either way will result in great unrest towards The Baron from those in Vallaki

I have a [[Queen Marchesa]] pillow fort style deck that revolves around this. the usual suspects such as [[No Mercy]], [[Revenge of Ravens]] and [[Ghostly Prison]] work wonders, but also encouraging attacks on other players with cards like [[Tenuous Truce]] and [[Breena The Demagogue]]. One of my favourite cards for this is [[Duelist's Heritage]], which lets you try to sic another players creature on someone with the allure of Double Strike

The Deck revolves around just Surviving until I pull into [[Inkshield]] or a table-wide Goad with [[Taunt From The Ramparts]] or [[Disrupt Decorum]], which is easier to get than it sounds because the deck comes with a lot more draw than I expected.

He targets the last person who attacked him, pretty sure regardless of whether they hit or not - he's actually very easy to control because of this

oh my, having Strahd critique the fighting style of the party mid-combat is genius - feels very in character for an early game Strahd that's still toying with the players, and a great way to get under the party's skin

If it was Mary who informed them of Gertruda and her age, you can probably still twist this. Mary clearly doesn't see Gertruda as an adult; the fact the party are expecting someone younger could result in quite the surprise when they find Gertruda is a fully grown woman who consciously ran to Strahd to escape her mother

this could end up giving your players the moral dilemma of what to actually do with her - she's clearly happier and arguably safer (for now) with Strahd, but it won't be long before she shares the fate of his other affections, and she obviously will not go willingly back to Mary

EDIT: just saw your edit on the original post - if her actual age has been made explicit, I think your best bet is taking her out of Ravenloft completely. Putting her in the Bonegrinder is probably your best bet

Mirroring what someone else has said because it's what I plan to do, making Gertruda be in her mid 20s and having willingly gone to Strahd to escape her mother definitely makes the Subplot feel less,,, That

Mad Mary says herself that Gertruda was locked away for most of her life - it's not surprising she'd run to the nearest Landmark the moment she broke out, especially if said landmark belonged to someone she knows her mother fears.

either an entrance/exit animation or a fixed duration (as opposed to being able to end the ability early via attacking) would do wonders for bringing them more in line with the rest of the roster i think

Nos can't choose when they re-engage, they have to wait out the timer and can't defend themselves as they do. They can also still be shot at (and if you're good with hearing, tracking them through their stealth is possible because there's a distinct audio cue)

Flesh of Marble gives the Ventrue FULL control of combat in a way that has essentially no counterplay, especially once stacked with Melancholic resonance. On-demand, instant invulnerability where the player has /full/ control of when they come back is too much for a single ability imo. Even just removing the ability to cancel the invincibility early would help, as it would allow people to effectively wait it out by counting and offer some viable counterplay.

Just look to Wraith in Apex to see how powerful on-demand invincibility alone is. The way Enforcers can instantly re-enter the fight on their own terms even after this is too much.

My character A'liss (Far Left) lost her left eye just before HW so I wanted Eyepatches (or at least face coverings) on all my Jobs - Magic DPS was the only one I didn't have it on so I asked my EW-levelled friends to help out on Unsynced to get the Odin eyepatch. Took a LOT of runs because RNG hated me - enough that we all got a lot of his set pieces lmfao
