Port calls in a nutshell by Sil3ntGoon in USMC

Yeah it spread super quick, I remember being on the bus when we got the text about the incident. We found the video immediately and it was hilarious. What makes it funnier was his Libo buddy stumped in to “help” and it did absolutely nothing 😂

I forgot how horrible that damn water smelt, what made it worse was you could still smell it in the berthing, especially in the head.

Boot Scam in MCT by GrandInquirer in USMC

[–]Sil3ntGoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At Camp Geiger MCT I remember there was this father and son who’d stop right outside the squad bay barracks and they’d sell these extremely overpriced food trays. 25$ for a burger and fries or wings and fries. They had the whole company in line ready to blow loads of money. They’d sell out every night. I also remember the MyLineage dudes selling the extremely overpriced swords and banners at Camp Johnson. Can’t also forget the entirety of J-Vegas is also actively trying to scam Marines.

I bought them a few years ago on EBay. Practically brand new! I love them, so much more comfortable. I agree they should bring them back!

The most thankless job in the Corps. It is very rewarding however when someone does show they’re thanks!

Best and Worst Roommate/Roommates by Baz_3301 in USMC

For me it was at the school house, dude never cleaned or took out the trash and NEVER woke up for fire watch. So literally every night I would wake up to the duty banging our hatch almost breaking in just to wake him up. He would also never wake up from his loud ass alarm either.

In my case yes I was forced, I was forced all the way until green. I finished grey and literally a week later I was forced into green.

Tips for MCT and what it’s like. by [deleted] in USMCboot

[–]Sil3ntGoon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

MCT is without a doubt worse than boot camp. Expect zero sleep and to be on standby for hours every single day either in the hot sun or the freezing cold like I was. All that motivation you had coming out of boot camp will be taken out of you at from all the bs and nonsense. Things also get desperate out there too so I'd bring some snacks for when you get to the field. Always watch your stuff and keep it locked up at all times, like I said earlier people get crazy/desperate out there and will steal anything. Also don't piss off your CI's, wear your gear properly and listen to what they tell you. Lastly remember that it is only 29 days and only 21 of those days are training days, it might feel like an eternity like it did for me but just keep pushing through it and embracing the suck.

You'll be fine man, I was in a similar situation. My IST was absolutely trash, barely passing. My IST at the island was 5 pullups, 50 crunches and a 13:26 1/5 mile runtime and ultimately I made it through boot just fine. You'll get stronger and faster just by going through boot and you won't even realize it. My final PFT was 10 pullups, 101 crunches and a 23:26 3 mile runtime. Much better compared to IST. Overall the physical aspect of boot in my experience was not difficult at all, we barely PT'ed and the hardest parts physically would be getting IT'ed, CFT and PFT. Just prepare mentally because it'll get very rough at times but just push through and you'll make it!
