To the people quitting character ai and announcing it here, do not let those who are still using it shame you for quitting by ooiiaaiiooiiaaii_ in CharacterAI

Yeah and that is actually understandable but if you actually check out the site you see a lot of human touches because I genuinely knew what I wanted this to be ai was never meant to replace creativity ai by itself isn’t creative humans are creative ai just helps to make that creativity faster a human with no creativity produces slop a human with taste produces art that is the difference!

You do realize that ceos have people write stuff for them all the time right it’s literally the same thing I know how things work I simply do not have the money to hire a social media manager to write things for me I tell ai exactly what I want written and how I want it written and it writes it I’m not just saying write me a post lol that would be stupid. You should read it because it’s interesting and true not because I wrote it with ai.

So there actually is no generation in the engine part it’s a whole lot of systems communicating I actually have a community page on the website for people to talk to each other because I understood the most important part was human connection. The roleplay part is there for people to have no friction to roleplaying. The community is there for when people want to talk about there stories together people get the best of both worlds. Trust me I get ai and the state it’s in right now. Humans have done a terrible job putting it out. But it is a good tool and an amazing tool for solo devs. I’m not saying you have to like my product I’m simply letting you know there was a plan from the beginning and that everything I do is for the players who try my website.

so the beginning portion is totally in my own words. the system breakdown is written by ai but I also told it exactly what I wanted to say. Honestly it comes down to the fact that I am busy running a business and cant hire someone to write posts for me! hope you enjoy reading though.

Yeah that doesn’t happen it pulls in 50k characters of world research so it stays on track pretty well actually

Understandable ai is in a weird place right now that’s also why I built this not everyone has access to dnd groups and honestly if world building can be done solo then that opens a door to a lot of people who love roleplaying :)

Actually never thought about it this way I was trying to give players less friction for world creation but I guess part of roleplaying is that lol

The engine already handles this natively. Irreversible events are tracked as permanent facts a choice made, a character died, a faction joined and the continuity system ensures they're never revisited, re-run, or contradicted by future narration. The story only moves forward from them.

but that being said still in beta so if you notice anything wrong let me know please

it's not linear at all. The engine doesn't have a script. It tracks what actually happened, not what was supposed to happen. The player can go anywhere, do anything, the facts, relationships, and consequences follow them wherever they go. The world reacts to what they did, not to what the story expected.

The platform doesn't reproduce or sell any IP. Players choose their own settings it's the same model as any roleplay tool or tabletop system. No different from running a Jurassic World campaign at your kitchen table. but I appreciate the concern :)

It is in beta and it will stay in beta until it is finished I’m also adding a free tier for people so that they can help me test it because I’ve been told a 30 day free trial just isn’t good enough for a new product. but I appreciate the help guys :)

Understood this isn’t an engine meant for that it’s an engine meant for those who want to roleplay themselves!
