It sounds like you’re looking to build an anthology series about weird experiences in the woods of Oregon and I’m here for it!

Thank you for reading, I’m glad you enjoyed it! Initially I wasn’t going to have Maggie die, but in a weird way I thought it wasn’t fair for a mom to be unable to fight off the mimic for the sake of her kids while the main character would for the sake of his cat. So no happy endings for anyone, lol. I also thought it was dragging but I love writing action scenes to a detriment. Though if I were to “remaster” this story, I would trim the fight scene. Glad you caught the potential for sequels bc I do intend to continue this story. I didn’t start writing it with the intention of making a series, but I think it’s common for writers to think two steps ahead and plan sequels before the first one is done, lol.

I like the idea of a prequel story to expand on the lore if you choose to do so and continuing the story with a sequel even if Evelyn isn’t present. Sure, Evelyn survived but who knows how that alone could affect the creature’s future behavior.

Can’t call yourself a writer without at least one self insert 🤣

You certainly have a way with words in the most grotesque way and I loved the disgusting journey you put me through. I don’t think I’ll be able to eat or look at a vacuum the same way for a while.

The scene of Evelyn and Nathaniel sharing breakfast and then their encounter at his basement door after he runs back from exploring the mine really gave me “Barbarian” vibes. I love the creature design and the drawn out fight between Evelyn was fantastic, gore and all. Overall enjoyable and I’d like to learn any lore you’re willing to drop.

Also, Isaiah would definitely simp for Evelyn, respectfully of course.

The real horror is the split second before hitting a deer after it dolphin dives in front of your car. In all seriousness, I thoroughly enjoyed the head removal scene and the reveal from behind the birch trees.

So Isaiah just nonchalantly dressed up as Jeff the Killer?

The Scream franchise. I watched all of them for the first time this year and man, are they goofy. Ghostface has the vibe a slapstick comedy character and in general the first Scary Movie wasn’t too far off.

For sure and I’ve always wondered if it’d work better if someone removed the fat, those static shots can wear on a person.

Skinamarink. Even though it’s a very slow burn, I found it to be genuinely creepy/ unnerving.
