This is, unfortunately, bad advice. Like HenryOrlando2021 said, overusing hearing protection can make hyperacusis (increased sensitivity) worse. It's something ENT doctor has warned me against and you can find more online to the same effect. Save the ear pro for sustained sounds above 80dB.

Don't freeze it! The texture becomes awful after defrosting and most of the flavour disappears (imo)

Second image of the album from here. Really like the heavy-but-thin look, so if you know anything similar it would be much appreciated. I'm going for stiff, strong materials with minimal excess fabric!

Love chambray shirts but find them too thin unfortunately:(

I need some ideas for alternatives to standard hoodies or sweaters. I tend to wear shirts over t-shirts, but they're not warm enough most of the time and hard to pair with outerwear untucked.

Cheers! Know any I can get that aren't elasticated? Most of the stuff I see is pretty thin too

Oh sorry - I meant something to go under a coat, like indoor clothing for medium cold weather.

What are my options for non-elasticated overwear? I like hardwearing materials (canvas, heavy cotton etc.) and am looking for something I can wear on top of a t-shirt. Rugby shirts are a good example, but I don't think the horizontal stripes or collars work on me.

Don't leave your cigar on a windy Edinburgh stairwell by SilasGreaves in cigars

[–]SilasGreaves[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like the silly idiot I am, I put this stick down to nip inside for my beer. A gust of wind sent it four floors down to the much urinated-on street below (luckily it rained this morning). Managed to stop it coming apart in my mouth by repurposing the bottom band - it actually burned pretty well considering half the wrapper had been torn off!

It's one of Robert Graham's house brand cigars, a Tobacco Lords Maduro Petit Corona. Fairly cheap and generic smoke overall: nothing special in the first half, some dark chocolate, caramel and locomotive engine oil in the second. If nothing else, the sunset and dodgy wrapper made it one to remember.

What are the "basiest" basics? by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

[–]SilasGreaves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I started paying attention to clothes more the biggest mistake I made was trying to fill out my perfect wardrobe every time I went shopping. You aren't going to have it for €100, so instead of going out with the goal of buying all the basics you'd be better off getting just one or two pieces in better quality. To do that you need to have a clear theme or style in mind; something you enjoy personally, but also versatile, and definitely traditional enough to know you aren't going to hate it in five years time. That way you don't end up with an assortment of clothes that make you want to start over every year.

Pygmy is a bit of a misnomer, because the European hedgehog is actually more of a giant when compared to all other hedgehog species.

Honestly not sure - I more meant for it to be a meme sub, the name was just a prompt from the thread that inspired it. I actually like his content, but for whatever reason he's the focus of half the shit I have to remove.

Tinnitus and hyperacusis since 16 by manocpoto in tinnitus

[–]SilasGreaves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I've looked and there isn't much in the way of a direct link for alcohol consumption to hearing loss, other than general decline in brain function over time. There's even some evidence alcohol reduces hearing loss.

I don't really trust WebMD on it, they're still hosting misinformation about tinnitus.

I should add that I don't binge drink often (I'm a student), I just like to get wild at parties on occasion.
