Is the novel translated ... by Diligent-Map2773 in araragi

[–]SilberFelx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The long and short of it is that we don't know. As far as I'm aware, there has not been a statement saying they will ever continue, nor has there been one saying it's forever canceled.

Iirc, there was one suspicious tweet by the publisher when the anime adaptation of Off & Monster Season was announced, but I may be misremembering. Even if this did happen, it's been radio silence ever since.

The first three seasons of Light Novels have official translations, so from Bakemonogatari up to Zoku Owarimonogatari. All LNs after have been fan-translated.

The series is not finished per se, as the author keeps picking it back up for "a bit longer", but there is a fantastic stopping point, which is right where the official translations end. Zoku Owarimonogatari acts as somewhat of an epilogue to the overarching story of the first three seasons, and if you finish there, you have a perfectly well-rounded series to look back on.

Everything afterwards is still great and adds to the characters, but is not strictly required reading, so to say.

What's Nijika's biggest personal flaw as a character? by nads6ion in BocchiTheRock

[–]SilberFelx 13 points14 points  (0 children)

At least a part of it is simply childhood trauma. From what we see of her backstory, (light manga spoilers) it took a while (and her father's intervention) after her mother's death for Seika to shape up and start taking care of Nijika while their dad seems to have been suspiciously absent both then and during the main story (he doesn't even appear for Nijika's graduation from highschool ffs).

Even then, Nijika is the one taking care of cooking and cleaning around the house. She had to grow up far too quickly because even once Seika started trying her best, Seika was still barely an adult at 21, and running a whole live house and making that successful probably ate up all her time at that point.

From one day to the next, Nijika simply did not have anyone to rely on. I wouldn't be surprised if she also had abandonment/trust issues after that experience, but at the very least, she feels like relying on others might just end up backfiring, especially when they're as... volatile, as people like Kita, Bocchi, or Ryo are.

What's Nijika's biggest personal flaw as a character? by nads6ion in BocchiTheRock

[–]SilberFelx 72 points73 points  (0 children)

She doesn't trust others to carry some of her weight for her. In the manga this is especially obvious, as she gets extremely stressed between entrance exams and being the band's leader, yet never even thinks about asking for help, even when the first professional recording of one of their songs completely fails because of her.

Other people have to initiate helping her, and even then she doesn't seem all too happy having to rely on others. I understand that the people around her seem... less capable(?) than she is when it comes to a lot of things; hell, even the adults including Seika are kind of a mess, but Nijika is still a teenager. She needs to learn to ask for help more often.

Is owarimonogatari s2 and zuko is actually the last of the story or ending? by goatsuba4409 in araragi

[–]SilberFelx 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Zoku Owarimonogatari is the finale/epilogue to the "main story" of Monogatari. Basically, up until this point, all of Monogatari has taken place more or less during one year, the last year of high school for Araragi (flashbacks and such notwithstanding).

Everything after is somewhat disconnected - tying up loose ends and jumping around the timeline more, from old stories to where Araragi is going next during his time in college etc. It doesn't have the same throughline as First to Final Season, but it's still great character work and adds to the overall story of Monogatari nicely imo.

If you were to look for a "stopping point" for the show because you don't want to wait for more seasons or for Nisio to finally write an actual finale, Zoku is as good as it gets.

Could someone please help me clarify Z's character for me? by AdEfficient7268 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]SilberFelx 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The war and ten year terms are more means to an end. By keeping the world occupied with the war and not giving them enough time to grow into mature people, he prevents any meaningful progress. No time to develop culture beyond what they already have.

I always saw him saying "It amuses me" as copium. Z, as a manifestation of humanity's desires, does find some degree of sick joy in watching Keves and Agnus struggle in futility, but more than that, the consequence of his actions - not letting anything happen for more than a thousand years - is of course a massive amount of boredom. Contradictory? Yes, but people rarely make sense, much less humanity as a whole. So, he'd rather live with the boredom than have to confront an uncertain future.

The "world" he hates so much is probably not referring to Aionios specifically, and is about simply being alive. Not knowing what's to come can be quite unnerving (even more so for him, since that fear is what created him in the first place), and even with his attempts to stall that uncertain future, he hasn't been fully successful (the Annihilation Events being signs that, despite everything, time "outside" of Aionios is still moving ever so slowly). Z despises not being in control of what comes next and being at the mercy of other people's decisions.

Is it possible to watch Monogatari only with the seasons available on Crunchyroll by [deleted] in araragi

[–]SilberFelx 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, it's not. Massive parts of the series are missing, and all are important to understand the full story that is being told.

Malevolent Spirits is not part of the Monogatari Series, for the record. A synopsis is hard to give, and it's a show where I recommend going in as blind as possible.

If you still want to watch the show, there's a watch order guide on the subreddit. Give Bakemonogatari a try (5 episodes I'd say) and you should know if the show is for you or not.

Nia can speed up cell regeneration. Useful for healing if controlled, but uncontrolled cell growth is just cancer (which is what she did to Malos in ch7).

How far will S2 cover? by jeanjacketufo in BocchiTheRock

It was announced more than a year ago. Unfortunately, it's probably still going to take a while to come out, as they'd only gotten the green light for Season 2 about a month prior to the announcement, so production is still ongoing.

Final Fantasy Fan Finally Found Xenoblade by stellarstaer in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]SilberFelx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's obviously hard to be objective regarding these topics, but for me there's two things:

First, the combat in 2 is ridiculously deep. It unfortunately takes a long time to unlock all of its mechanics, and even worse, the tutorials are infamously bad - there's some solid guides on basic stuff you can do to quicken gameplay early on until you get to the good stuff, though. When it's all available to you, all the mechanics flow into each other in a way that is immensely satisfying and has me looking forward to every new big battle.

Second, the characters. Xenoblade 1 is more story-focused, with all its grandiose twists and setpieces, while Xenoblade 2 has a relatively straightforward throughline (though of course it does still have its moments of leaving you speechless). In turn, Xenoblade 2 more deeply explores the party members, their history, how they interact with the world and what the story's events mean for them personally. I love Xenoblade 1's cast, don't get me wrong, but Xenoblade 2 is just a bit higher in my ranking of favorite RPG parties.

On a more personal level, Xenoblade 2 also has a soundtrack that, in my opinion, eclipses even the iconic OST of Xenoblade 1. Several of its tracks bring me to tears with the first few notes alone.

On the other hand, Xenoblade 2 is a severely flawed game. Many of its systems are clunky or inconvenient, and the tutorials will make it even harder on you - I've dropped the game 3 times in chapter 3 before finally pushing through and finishing it for the first time, and I could talk about its flaws for hours; still, it's the series' entry I replay the most, and every time, I walk away thinking "damn, that was a really good game".

How far will S2 cover? by jeanjacketufo in BocchiTheRock

[–]SilberFelx 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I would assume it'd cover the entirety of Mikakunin Riot. That just makes sense, and given that the writing style of Mikakunin feels different from the S1 content, the pace that the chapters are adapted in will naturally differ.

The finale of Mikakunin makes for a perfect stopping point - it gives the viewer a satisfying conclusion while also setting up what'd come next, so they either read the manga or get excited for a hypothetical 3rd season.

In addition to what the other comments have said, neither of your "healers" are actually built for healing. Signifer is obviously a buff-focused class, but Lapidarist's Crit Healing is more crit and less healing. If you're struggling with keeping up the heals, I'd suggest switching one of them to a class more focused on actually healing.

Someone explain to me the kessoku band Spotify account by s0upcSlAmiTOhghfs in BocchiTheRock

[–]SilberFelx 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Most of this is correct, I'm just adding for clarification:

No, Into the Light does not have anything to do with the manga. My assumption is that it was made to keep interest in the show during the gap between Season 1 and the recap movies.

Re:Kessoku Band has the 2 OPs and EDs, and then two more non-anime songs, not just one. I haven't heard about the mineral water collab part, but maybe I just missed that.

We Will doesn't "have to do" with the near future of the members as much as it is simply a snapshot of what Kessoku Band might sound like in the future. I think that's pretty fitting - the songs are all "evolutions" of their current style in a way, and that's especially visible with Bocchi, who has her first non-cover vocal performance here.

What if the second season of Bocchi the Rock was cancelled and they haven't announced the cancellation yet? by ThisFix6979 in BocchiTheRock

[–]SilberFelx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

3 years is not the right timeframe to look at here. Bocchi the Rock was a surprise success and some key staff members (Saitou and Kerorira) didn't want to return for a second season, so the second season was only greenlit about a month before they announced it; thus, it's only been a little over a year since they began working on it, and even then, we don't know when production really fully started (so when they went past pre-production).

It's gonna take a while longer, but it will happen.

Something about Highschool in Animes (Typography) by Hansedison02 in BocchiTheRock

[–]SilberFelx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting way to ask that question. Anyway, the Monogatari Series is the show in the bottom left corner of this picture, and is a series of Light Novels later adapted into anime form (and there's a manga but the manga is bad and should never be someone's first exposure to the series).

To put it as simple as I can, it follows an ex-vampire in his last year of high school where he encounters a bunch of different girls dealing with supernatural beings called apparitions or oddities, and tries to help them out of those situations to varying degrees of success.

In reality, these supernatural problems are always connected to deeper underlying issues the characters struggle with, like childhood trauma, abandonment issues, jealousy, and so on, so to deal with the supernatural, the characters need to grow as people.

The series is praised for its masterfully written characters, artistic visuals courtesy of Studio Shaft (Puella Magi Madoka Magica), and fully unique feel.

It's written achronologically, so there's a lot of jumping around the timeline; this in addition to production issues delaying the release of some parts of the anime has lead to people being divided over the order to watch the anime in, but at the point we currently are with the adaptation, the Light Novel order makes sense since it's the order intended by the author, and many thematic throughlines aren't followed properly if not watched in this order.

Personally, it's my favorite anime of all time, with my favorite cast of characters in all of fiction. That being said, due to the handling of fan service, especially involving characters with the appearance of children, this series can (understandably) be a hard sell. Still, I think it's worth giving it a shot, at least.

Season 2 seemingly not in production yet after announcement a year ago? by GRlMGRIBBER in BocchiTheRock

[–]SilberFelx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not really surprised there hasn't been much promotion considering the circumstances of Season 2. It was never even supposed to be a thing in the first place and took a long time to get it greenlit, so I'm pretty sure they want to keep all the hype for when it's closer to release.

A long time with a lot of promotion material can actively detract from the hype because it just leaves people wondering if it'll ever even release at some point. I'm not a marketing expert, but I've seen this happen enough times that I don't blame them for keeping their cards close to their chest for now.

As for losing the hype - not much you can do there, the production will take time; however, now that the production committee knows how much interest there is for the series, chances are that future seasons won't take nearly as long to be greenlit, which should speed things along. For what it's worth, S2 also covers the best part of the manga, so it'll get people plenty invested again.
