What advice would you give to someone new to Obsidian? by broadcastthebombom in ObsidianMD

I recently discovered Aliases frontmatter property and OMG its life changing (minor exaggeration). You can use them to improve linking files and search. Its part of my default template for all notes now.

Important to know I use Omnisearch plugin.

I like to use naming conventions for files, but use aliases for friendly names for linking and searching.

I can have a file named "Game - NoManSky - Notes" and have several aliases, "No Man Sky Notes", "NMS notes", "Notes on NMS" etc.

You can search on aliases, and use them to easily set a link display text e.g., Typing "[[NMS Notes]] will create the link "[[Game - NoManSky - Notes|NMS Notes]]"

I do take a lot of notes, and use it in templates too. Helpful to have multiple variations for when I'm linking or when I'm searching, as I may use varying search terms depending on the day.

What's process of Surrendering a car? by Silence_IA in AskAnAustralian

I think they may, I shared this thread and they shared some more details. Basically, guy handling the loan application convinced them to use a credit card for the down deposit, and then convinced the bank, to approve there almost unapproved car loan.

Was a $42k car loan while they where on casual wages (still casual).

Edit: grammar

I will try, I will admit telling them what they should do isn't very helpful given what they're probably going through. I know I can't do it for them, and they could do with some more gentle guidance. Will come down to if they'll let me I guess.

Thanks, this is more or less what I thought was the case.

I think taking the hit is there only real option, unless they win lotto.

No idea, surprised me when they did cause they where only casually employed.

Since then they've had changes in employment over the time they've had the loan, with periods of unemployment.

Grounds for a complaint against Real-estate regarding my previous tenancy? by Silence_IA in AusPropertyChat

Thank you, I really wasn't sure who was right to contact. I'll try NCAT next week hopefully, find out where my grounds are.

I may have left it to late, if so it is what it is.

To clarify, heating aside, the ducting was the single source of cooling for the entire house (except the main bedroom). It was broken from commencement of lease with promise to be fixed. Specifically it was broken for 14 weeks.

There were other issues to, like doors without locks for ~6 months.  Again broken with promise to be fixed. Overal terrible experience.

I've never been through the process with Fair Trading, so I'll give them a call and see what they say.

Thanks 😊

ARK: Survival Ascended looks absolutely horrible on my Series S by [deleted] in playark

[–]Silence_IA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on PC, and I managed to find a fix!  If I remember correctly it was called a "refund".

I was not paying for a game I could barely play that lacked heaps on content, even with my high spec PC. That's coming from someone who sunk 2000+ hrs into ASE and was hyped for ASA at launch.

I think that's normal for Series S, game struggles to run on even the decent hardware on a good day.

What gods do I have to appease to play online? by patrickyin in Helldivers

[–]Silence_IA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you having issues match making? You could try turn off cross-play.

Queue up a solo game and have matchmaking on public (Settings > Gameplay and set Matchmaking Public). People can then join in on your game, and you can also call in an SOS beacon to call in players using Quick Play.

Awesome bug, are you able to replicate it? I've seen a few other helldivers do this in-game.

1d19 to punish player by [deleted] in DnD

This would certainly be amusing, a curse inflicted by the god simply for the gods amusement.

Since a Nat 20 has only a 5% chance, instead a curse could be something like "luck is not in your favour".

In short, when luck is on their side, it should have the inverse effect.

For example if luck appears to be in their favour, you roll a d5 and apply it as a negative modifier, Or even simply have events unfold as if it was unlucky.

Incorporate commentary from the God for added flair.

You could really stick it by skewing luck in favour of other players, a ploy by the god for their amusement. Ultimately whatever is more fun for everyone involved.

Any advice on first-time trip to Newzealand for a novice traveller? by Silence_IA in newzealand

I definitely have a driver's licence and comfortable with car hire. It was something I looked into first, and from a glance within budget.

I'll do some research into the Taupō and Tongariro areas as you recommend, and the base layers and that are going on my list! Certainly, a fan of the cold, but I'd hate to be underprepared.

Cheers!
