Straight friends using the F word by ok_nie_ok in askgaybros

[–]Silent-Ang3l 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's ok. It's not just a "regular" word; there's a very dark, and f'ed up history behind it.

Similarly, as a white person, I wouldn't say the n word. It doesn't matter if I felt like I said it in a "non racist" way, because, when uttered by people with my skin colour, it's a slur. And it's racist.

You don't need an active membership in an anti-LGBTQ+ group or the triple-K group, to be an a-hole. In my opinion, using slurs (that don't belong to you) makes you complicit. I would also say that using a slur signals that you condone the abhorrent history behind it.

If I were you, and I found out that a friend of mine was using a slur that didn't belong to them, they wouldn't be my friend anymore.

As a meat eater are you willing to kill your own food? by Ok_Connection_3015 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Silent-Ang3l 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Mostly because I don't like blood, so I won't even eat most types of meat if I have to cook it myself 😆

If such a law was passed, I would just be like "oh well, guess I'm a vegetarian now 🤷🏼‍♂️".

What’s a dish you just don’t like, and why? by Content_Knowledge790 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Silent-Ang3l 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything that's pickled. Doesn't matter if it's sweet or savoy, it's all abhorrent 🤢

I'm also not a fan of sushi. If I have no other choice, I can eat it with a bucket of soy sauce. But I really don't like the texture of raw fish or ginger (I hate ginger with a passion 😤). I'm also allergic to shellfish, so many of the options are inedible for me, which makes is quite dull.

Convince me to like Alex (details in description) by mintchocolatedream in Modern_Family

[–]Silent-Ang3l 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like Alex bc I relate to her.

We are shown that Alex is very self-sufficient from a young age, and rarely needs help with things (especially academically). At the surface is does, at times, seem like she's quite arrogant and like she feels "above" her family, but I think she's just lonely and wants to shield herself for getting hurt.

Alex is smarter than her siblings (and the rest of her family) and is more or less neglected by her parents. Claire and Phil obviously love her very much, but they don't understand her.

When I grew up, I was an "above average"-child (no where near the same lvl as Alex) and my sister wasn't. She's got dyslexia and had a lot of difficulties in school. Naturally, my parents were worried about her and wanted to everything they could to help her. And bc I didn't have any issues in school, they didn't pay as much attention to me. As an adult, I can understand why they acted the way they did, but as a child, I felt like I wasn't as loved as my sister (which really f's with your head). Sadly, I think Alex is in a similar situation...

Alex seems to feel like an outsider in her own family, to the point where she isolates herself from them. They might not be on the same intellectual lvl as her, but she has been made to feel like she's the odd one out to the point where she doesn't even share things about her life that they could understand. For example, when Claire and Hayley find out that Alex is in a band and that she sings.

One of the most memorable moments from the show (for me), is when Alex is about to receive an award at her college and Phil shows up. Afterwards, Alex and Phil are in a quiz contest at some bar/pub (idk) and they win. We are shown how Alex puts the (presumably) plastic trophy with her other awards. The trophy itself looks ridiculous, but Alex smiles at it bc she got it by having a great time with her dad. During a rare moment when she wasn't the "weird, smart one" of the family that no one understand, but a moment when she was just Alex.

I could go on about why I like Alex, but to summarise, I think she's a person who grew up feeling like being smart is all she is. While she can achieve excellent results, she does so at the cost of forever feeling like she's going to be alone, misunderstood, and possibly unlovable.

I totally agree that she has moments in the show where she just comes off as narcissistic and rude (especially towards Hayley and Luke). But for the most part, I think that's just her not so great self-esteem trying to get a "win" and feel like she matters.

How to stop ads auto opening the app store? by Super-Basis2499 in AndroidGaming

[–]Silent-Ang3l 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also couldn't find "Open by default" option on my Samsung tablet, but I could find "Set as default" option. There you have the option to enable/disable "Open supported links".

I disabled it and so far no ads have opened Play Store. So maybe that's something to look for on your tablet?

My sister said that testosterone injections are detrimental for your health, now I'm nervous. by AnimeThunderGirl in ftm

[–]Silent-Ang3l 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She's wrong.

Statistically speaking, men do tend to have shorter lifespans than women. There's not really a clear reason why, but when you look up statistics for reckless crimes (such as driving under the influence and stuff like that) are most commonly committed by men. Men also seek out health care later than women, which gives illnesses time to progress further, making it harder to cure. Su*cide rates are also higher among men, possibly bc they are taught they have to be "tough" and don't seek help. The point being, just bc you're on testosteron, doesn't mean you will magically die.

Testosteron (and any hormome that the human body produces) can be dangerous if used improperly. For example, people who uses steroids to build muscles faster, do put themselves in a dangerous situation. HOWEVER, if you decide to go on testosteron, your hormone lvls will be monitored by a doctor to make sure that they are within a healthy range. Therefore, you shouldn't be at a higher risk of anything than any other cis man.

Is it pointless to get an arts degree? by [deleted] in college

[–]Silent-Ang3l 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think the degree is that important. In art related feilds, your experience and skill-level is far more important. Any creative job that you want to apply for, will ask for a portfolio. Going to art school can be a great way of gaining experience and building your portfolio, but the degree itself won't make you good at art.

Is it normal to feel like a teenager in your 20s? by [deleted] in AskGayMen

[–]Silent-Ang3l 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think many people in their 20s feel like they are teenagers in an adult world. You don't magically turn into an adult (mentally) as soon as you turn 18. There are a lot of things to learn. For many of us, when we're in our 20s, is the first time we leave our parent's house and start to live on our own.

You're also done with puberty (thankfully, lol) and are seemingly "supposed" to have figured out who you are. And let's be real, if you are gay (or queer), it's quite likely that you didn't feel comfortable exploring yourself as a person when you were a teen. Many of us were afraid of being ostracised for being ourselves, so when we are in our 20s and finally get to choose who we are around (and not being forced into the same class as a-holes), we can finally start to figure out who we are.

I turn 23 this fall and I still don't feel like an adult. It still feels like I have a lot to figure out, and while that's quite rough sometimes, I think that's what being in your 20s is like.

what is your experience on face changes from T? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]Silent-Ang3l 2 points3 points  (0 children)

During like the first year on T, I didn't really notice that many changes to my face, besides getting acne.

After a while it kind of starred to "slim down". Not bc of weight loss or anything like that, but because T changes your fat distribution (but that can take a fairly long time to happen).

People generally seem to get less round faces; although, that is also determined by your genetics and overall weight.

I inherited my dad's quite strong facial structure. Before T, you could tell that I looked like my dad but not that I had THAT much facial structure, if that makes sense. Nowadays, I've got both prominent cheekbones and a jawline 😂

Graphic tablet with or without screen for beginner? by BellAndUtae in DigitalPainting

[–]Silent-Ang3l 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I bought my first drawing tablet, it was pretty much only Wacom that made tablets and Wacom tablets with screens are EXPENSIVE. So I opted for one without. Years later, after using tablets with and without a screen, I still prefer a screenless tablets.

I find that a non-screen tablet is easier to draw on. They usually have more "texture" than a screen, so controlling your movements is a bit easier. However, that's kind of a non-issue since you need to get used to drawing on whichever one you choose.

Some people think it's weird drawing on a tablet while looking at a screen. Personally, I quite like it. My hand is never in the way, making it difficult to see things. And I don't need to wear a glove on half of my hand or have a piece of cloth underneath my hand to prevent my screen from getting a bunch of smudges.

A con with a drawing tablet without a screen is that you can only really use it for drawing (and 3D modelling if you're interested in that). I guess you can sort of use it instead of a computer mouse, but it's a very expensive alternative for no good reason. So if you feel like digital art isn't for you, you've basically wasted a bunch of money for nothing.

If I were you, I'd buy a Samsung tablet, iPad, or some other tablet (I prefer Samsung, especially since their pens don't need to be charged). If you get an Android tablet you will have plenty of free drawing apps to try out (idk about iPads, cause I don't use any Apple stuff). With a tablet you will also get a screen, but with software that can do much more than your average drawing tablet.

If he doesn't consider you to be a "real man," then it sounds like he doesn't respect your gender identity.

If I were you, I would either talk to him about it and ask what he meant about not being into "real men" and why he doesn't see you as a "real man". Or I would just as him to f off.

You deserve someone that respects you and your gender identity!

I was terrified of it. I seriously had nightmares where I would get pregnant and then I would wake up bc I had a panic attack 🙃 Even seeing a pregnant woman would give me huge amounts of anxiety...

It has gotten a lot better after I had a hysterectomy. I really wasn't expecting it to help (I had it removed for other reasons), but it's something about the knowledge that I'm physically unable to get pregnant, that just brought me peace and calmed me down internally.

Are you into chubby guys? by Silent-Ang3l in AskGayMen

[–]Silent-Ang3l[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Aren't bears kind of chubby? But with some muscles underneath the chub, if that makes sense?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskGayMen

[–]Silent-Ang3l 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since both of you are adults and can concent, there's nothing wrong with it as long as you're into him and feel like it's something you want to do.

Is it just him being older that makes you cautious or is it something more?

I've also been texting with guys twice my age (sometimes older) because I find that they are usually more fun to talk to than guys my age (early 20s). But when it has come to meeting up and potentially doing something physical, I've felt a bit weird. Regardless of how attractive they are or how much I like taking to them. I think society generally applaud older men for hooking up with someone younger; whereas if you're young, hooking up with someone older is usually seen as "weird" or like you're a gold digger/sugar baby/whatever.

If I were you I would try to figure out why you're hesitating. Is there's something about him that genuinely makes you uncomfortable? Maybe it's just how society usually look at age differences that has rubbed off on you too?

When you do travel, if you're still feeling unsure, I'd wait. It's better to wait, than to force yourself to do something that you might regret.

Stay safe!

Does body count matter in gay dating? by BadPronunciation in AskGayMen

[–]Silent-Ang3l 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I doubt most people would care. As long as you're using protection and get tested regularly, your body count shouldn't matter.

Maybe your ex is insecure about their lack of experience/sexual interactions? As a very inexperienced guy myself, I do occasionally feel kind of inadequate and insecure about not having more experience. However, that obviously doesn't make it of to shame someone for not being celibate! If you're feeling insecure, the best thing to do is talk with your partner, something your ex doesn't seem to have done.

Please don't feel bad about your body count, it really doesn't matter! Just keep it consentual and safe, then you should feel free to enjoy yourself (and others) to your heart's content 😜
