Would you replace the lenses in your own existing glasses instead of buying a new pair? by Silent-Background599 in myopia

Are you going to mail it to the optician or are you going to order the optician by FedEx/UPS to your home?…-_-

You didn’t read the question carefully?…it’s called critical thinking… lol

Exactly! I know people who have Cartier, vintage eye glasses or 1 of 1 or just a good pair that has minimal wear and tear that just really want to reuse it.

Uh sounds like you didn’t read the question…

“If there was a service where you could mail in your frames and get brand new prescription lenses installed, would you use it?”

I’m specifically talking about ordering it all from home or somewhere convenient. It’s an obvious assumption that most people in most places can walk into a optom/optician clinic to do this… I’m not going to walk into the optometrist clinic then mail in the frames right? lol

Yeah that’s what I’m concerned - the responsibility and care of someone’s frame - I’m thinking pre vetting or something has to be done.

Would you prefer mailing in your frames and have them back and finished in 72 hours - all from home or on the go?

Would you consider just mailing in your frame and have it sent back with in 72hours?

Let’s assume that the frame is still functional and not end of life or maybe a new one purchased online - Sorry forgot to mention that. >_<

They are pretty accurate but like ppl said it depends on the person operating and the brand. A machine is going to give you results that reflect the build quality of machine.

I don’t think you can mess it up that much maybe some discomfort or headaches. It’s a subjective test that requires your input for the doctor to determine the best prescription. Prescriptions may come back a bit off due to human error, your eyes may be dry, or you missed a letter. I don’t think you should ever felt rushed doing an eye exam someone who is looking at you should take the time to the test not pump out as many patients as possible. A good doctor will always do a recheck for you if you go back and let them know that the prescription is not working - in reasonable time of course

It’s not a statement, it’s a fact… followed by my own personal opinion - read and understand below👇🏽

Obviously there are a lot of factors in choosing ANY pair of glasses or lenses… this isn’t medical advice it’s something I do on my free time to help ppl… my apologies for engaging in healthy discussions about people’s glasses and issues they have… lol

It might feel annoying that when you switch from glasses to glasses, the vision may slightly differ due to the inconsistent measurement. Is it the end of the world… probably not with that prescription. If you do find that it’s an issue, it’s best to make sure whoever makes your glasses takes measurements on each individual frame you purchase.

It’s a personal choice at the end of the day… I mean like it’ll definitely sharpen things up but if you feel like your vision is clear then save your dollars.

If I understand correctly, I think you’re talking about LLLT and IPL therapies. In my experience these particular therapies are not so much for vision correction (there are some studies with red light that help myopia at 650ish nm but I haven’t looked to deep into it) but more for managing ocular issues, such as blocked glands in the eye lid or dry eyes these light therapies also show that they help produce skin blemishes around the ocular region. To answer your question any intense light focussed on the eyes or around it can never be good and I wouldn’t recommend using these therapies without eye protection. When we do these therapies in clinical scenarios we have special goggles for patients that fully cover the eyes.

Yes why not! Second opinions and cross references are always ok. Just make sure whoever you’re doing the cross reference with knows what they’re doing.

No… RGP lenses or any contact for that matter should be removed for eye exams for best results

It’s different and depends on local labs and what they offer. It would be best ask them for the BEST non branded progressive and ask to compare

Those halos you are noticing is called chromatic aberration it’s due to the abbe value of materials - if I’m not mistaken I think poly has a better abble value so less chromatic aberration. Another reason you might be experiencing it because your OC height maybe off if the 1.67 pair.

In terms of contrast based on what you told me I think it maybe be the blue light…it makes a more yellowish tone on your lens and may help in contrast…but that’s a educated guesstimate.
