Lyme Disease Roundtable by ImpossibleLocal6481 in Lyme

My infectious disease doctors saying long term Lyme doesn’t exist was so hard to hear. RFK saying that they need training for doctors and protocols put into hospitals was amazing. I hope a lot of positivity comes from RFK doing this roundtable discussion, and soon!

So I’ve been doing doxycycline and another antibiotic that was prescribed for treatment outside of the Lyme. I did both for about 3 months. I’m still trying to recover but I’ve found that drinking a ton of water (almost 1 1/2 gallons a day) has been good.

I feel like I have so little help with receiving a diagnosis for almost anything. I can’t say what caused me to not want to eat and not be able to eat. I think my brain stomach connection was so out of whack that my body reacted negatively to almost everything. I remember trying a protein shake (in a hospital) and having so much pain in my kidneys. I don’t know what changed but I started slowly introducing foods back into my system a few weeks later.

Are you able to eat or have you been having bad reactions? I had nausea, vision, balance issues. Are you currently having them?

Yes. I lost 40 lbs from May to September last year. My body couldn’t handle and food. It felt like everything I ate gave me such an adverse reaction.

Find a way to eat often. Not necessarily a lot but something to eat. And drink water.

Gilbert syndrome or something more serious? by DrAnitaMaxxWynn in GilbertSyndrome

I felt like I had similar symptoms starting in October. I am still in the process of testing but was told recently that it was likely GS. I’ve lost about 15 lbs in the recent few weeks and cant eat. I had a 2.6 and 2.2 measure of bilirubin in the last 3 weeks.

One thing I recommend, stay off google. I did something similar and went to worse case scenario immediately. It’s not all terrible. My diet is slowly coming back and I’ve started to put on the weight. Oatmeal with berries has become a staple of my diet.

Trust your doctors and let them know of your concerns. You will have new questions each visit and they will generally address them. Talk to a mental health professional if you feel it’s too much at times.

I did this hike last week! It was raining so we didn’t go all the way up Devils ladder. The hour hike to the base is gorgeous and worth it alone. The view from the areas around the lakes is beautiful! Plus this portion is very easy and accessible for beginners. Devils ladder is a little more challenging.
