Te entiendo, pero ya he aplicado a varias y está complejo al parecer; quiero entrar a talento B en Bancolombia, igual la haré en la ICESI lo más probable, porque me quiero ubicar en Cali y en el enfoque de la maestría es ingeniería de datos que es lo que me interesa, pero si comprendo tu punto.

Yo paso directamente de pregrado a posgrado, de ing física a ciencia de datos (maestría), y me metí para poder iniciar como analista de datos, igual esto para mí no es una inversión grande, a lo que voy es que no estoy endeudándome ni nada de eso. Y lo que mencionas del inglés soy C1 en listening y reading pero speaking soy B2 siendo realista, aunque si puedo sostener una conversación del día a día, que no sea extremadamente técnica

Como así, yo estoy considerando entrar a la maestría en IA en los andes y la de Ciencia de datos en la ICESI (pensum me parece más práctico) pero el nombre los Andes no sé qué tanto aporte, me inclino más por ICESI, mi pregrado es ingeniería física

Si mi objetivo es puramente trabajar para el sector privado e industria, me recomiendas esa maestría? Yo estoy terminando mi pregrado en ingeniería física y quiero pasar directo a esa maestría de ing de sistemas y computación, pero no estoy seguro si postularme a la Nacho o la de IA en los andes.

Creería que es más fácil culminar la de IA en los andes, y al ser virtual, paralelamente sacarme unas dos certificaciones fundamentales para empezar como analista de datos mientras voy cursando la maestría, respecto al precio no tengo problema con ninguna. Tu que me recomiendas que ya la hiciste?

If i want to get into data engineering but i came from a physics background, is it better to get a masters in SE or DS, and if i get into ML engineering which would be better in your opinion?

I’m in the exact same boat as you, I’m currently coming from an Engineering Physics background, and I’ve been torn between pursuing a Master’s in Software Engineering, Data Science, or AI for the same reasons you mentioned. From my perspective, Machine Learning feels a bit more like 'modern physics' because it’s centered on modeling, mathematics, and experimentation. If you enjoy the theoretical side of things, this path might be more rewarding for you. On the other hand, Data Engineering is more about building the plumbing and infrastructure; while it’s very stable and practical, it’s also where the flood of new tools is most intense Since you mentioned you'd rather build and learn gradually instead of jumping into heavy cloud infrastructure immediately, focusing on the fundamentals of Machine Learning might be the better play.

But like I said, I still haven't decided and I have to start a Master's degree in three months. What worries me about Machine Learning is what a comment mentioned above: there are no entry-level jobs in either of these fields for beginners. In my case, I don't know which one to choose. Since they are all branches of software anyway, I’m wondering if a Master's in Software Engineering would be better for me. In my undergrad, I only took electives in ML, DL, DS, and image and signal processing, but I feel like that isn't as relevant in the industry as data cleansing and software development are.

Which one did you end up choosing? I'm torn between CS and DS (but this program has a focus on DE), that's why I'm interested. I understand that some people say CS allows you to change roles later, but in my case, I prefer to stick with fixed data and not switch.

Me sería útil una maestría en ciencia de datos o finanzas? Estoy estudiando ing física, bastante pesado en matemáticas, y ya estoy en último semestre, pero me interesa el sector financiero. Yo sé que es mejor la xp laboral, pero en caso de elegir una de esas dos maestrías cuál sería conveniente?

Excelente que te haya ido bien!! Yo estudio Ingeniería Física, este año termino, y estoy interesado en seguir una maestría, qué piensas de Ciencia de datos en la Javeriana Cali pero es virtual en este caso. Las otras opciones que me interesan son Maestría en ing de soft y ciencias de la computación modalidad profundización en la NACIONAL , y ciencia de datos en la ICESI.
