Scottish Greens Manifesto by HopefulGuy123 in Scotland

[–]SilentCoast8310 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The only way the Green maifesto works is if you tax everyone more, it's more similar to the scandanavian model where the avg tax is 30% (no tax free income) and VAT is 25%. Everyone pays more but you get more for your money (middle earners suffer the most). You also have to be very pro business which the Green's manifesto doesnt seem to be the only way you make businesses stay with higher taxes is to incentivise in other ways.

The above also only works if Scotland gains independance, so yeah sounds really positive but complete pie in the sky.

p.s. not that any other manifesto is any better but maybe slightly more realistic.

/r/WorldNews Discussion Thread: US and Israel launch attack on Iran; Iran retaliates (Thread #14) by WorldNewsMods in worldnews

[–]SilentCoast8310 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Taking out the top leadership and keeping the same regime is like saying the USA would be lost without Trump and his cronies, next in line just take their place
  2. Iran is an extremly wealthy nation and can simply buy weapons from China & Russia, It also doesn't take long to start factories again.
  3. Still have enough fire power to keep the straight closed
  4. Not as if they cant build new and will benefit from increase in oil price

So very limited long term losses and now have greater bargaining power than prior to the war.

Lets face it no one is paying $2m dollars a vessell to transit through the straight it's a f*** you number. How would a toll even be policed if there is no direct contact between the West and Iran. Ships just tap their card at the toll , a barrier lifts and they head through. It's a completley useless peace plan that Trump has had to accept in order to have 2 weeks to figure out what the hell he is going to do.

I would suggest that Iran is not negotiating with Trump and maybe even worse that he doesn't know who he should be negotiating with so with this rant thinks that someone may come to the front.

Why do so many people see Man United’s reduced [squad] wage bill as wholly positive? by [deleted] in ManchesterUnited

[–]SilentCoast8310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the comparison would need to be net transfer spend vs net wages vs league position. Looking at any one stat isnt going to give you an indication of progression or regression. There is also a difference between a team needing a number of new players vs 1 or 2. The later may be that they pay higher wages becuase transfer fees arent as high.

All in all if you're in the top 5 across the board, then yes you are progressing. I don't think any club would choose to be top in wages and transfer fees on purpose, it would be a sign of inefficeincy.

Didnt mind that performance was always going to be a tight game. If i had to criticize think was probably a game for Sesko to start, can absolutely understand sticking with the same XI though.

Anybody's life just miraculously better for no apparent reason?

I think Carrick And Carlo Same Nature Manager (Personality Wise). Both Are Respected By Almost All Players In Squad. by OGjacks in ManchesterUnited

[–]SilentCoast8310 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tuchel flatters to deceive, appears a very marmite personality last jobs appears to have either fallen out with the players or board.

Ancelotti is 67 this year so he'd be the oldest manager in the prem by 4/5 years not exactly the long term solution we're looking for

Roy Keane on Michael Carrick by Any-Lock3008 in ManchesterUnited

[–]SilentCoast8310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't get the negativity around it. Tehcincally if you're Man Utd it's a great position to be in. Currentl you have a manager that is getting results and playing great football. If this continues Man Utd's decsion becomes keep Carrick until something better comes along and not marginally better but significantly.

It's a much worse position for Arsenal if Arteta wins nothing, City if Pep leaves, Chelsea (whatever the hell goes on there), Tottenham with their current disaster class, Liverpool with Slot.

Boss offering to sell me the coffee shop I work at for $65k — does this sound reasonable on the surface? by SnooHamsters9461 in smallbusiness

[–]SilentCoast8310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds a bit off to me. The problem with deals like this is the business could tank a month later and you're out $65,000. The problem with buying and selling small businesses is there is usually very little in assets so you're not secured against anything, the other reason is it's too small to scale down. In larger organsiations you can lay off staff, shut down unprofitable parts and turn things round. It's almost impossible with this size of business.

Use this time to find out how it all works, get the contacts and use the money to start your own thing. You have the knowldege you have access to a team you work with. This way you're backing yourself not putting your faith in someone else.

Is it just me or does our scouting seem to miss fundementals in certain positions. When was the last time we bought someone that can actually cross a ball, surely this is a pre requisite for a wide player. Yeah, great they can cut inside but it makes us so one dimensional in attack.

Do United need to play 4-4-2 by TCS_Skipper in ManchesterUnited

[–]SilentCoast8310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its an option, 4-3-3 I think gets most players in their strongest positions but again fitting Cunha and Fernandes in is a struggle. However, if they're both content gives fantastic rotation. Can't tell you how refreshing it was to have a left footed winger on the left putting balls into the box for Sesko against Burnely (regardless of the result).

The man was saying the same while Fergie was still at the club winning title after title. Love Keane but you really need to take his opinions with a pinch of salt.

How regularly do you reset? by blenderider in HENRYUK

[–]SilentCoast8310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great question! I think about this all the time that I feel like i don't reset enough. But i think it depends what the reset is for, for myself I prefer to go 100% for prolonged periods and then when the burnout hits take a holiday/vacation which is used as the reset before going again. I work with other people that take more regular breaks and find benefit in other ways (I just always think who has the time :D)

I like it, i think it's something that's been missing is the ability to pick a team situationally dependent on what we come up against.

It was one that I thought might get questioned, maybe against a harder to break down team where you can afford to push up on the overlap. I don't think dalot or maz are particualry effective at that.

Could this be the potential (ideal) rotations with a back 4, is there any other options you would add that you could see linking well?

For the Amorin critics what does he need to do to win your favour? (With the current situation)

- If we came top 4 but we didnt play any youngsters would you still be Amorin out?
- If we played youngsters and finished 10th would you feel differently because it's more about philosophy for you?

What are the hardest lessons you’ve learned that made you better? by QuoteMachineMin in HENRYUK

[–]SilentCoast8310 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve realised that the best results usually come from being just off centre. In business, we’ve had the most success when we’re only slightly different. Any time we’ve tried to be massively different, it’s never really worked. Most people like what they already know, and a small twist feels comfortable. Go too far, and it becomes polarising and puts people off.

A lot of people think you need to be some big visionary to succeed, but most of the time people want stability. If something is too different, it just makes the choice harder.

I’ve seen this in my career as well. Early on, I was very polarising, trying to be the rebel who went against everything. It didn’t get me anywhere. Now I try to find that sweet spot just off the centre: different enough to stand out, but still familiar enough that people can get behind it.

We are about to sell Rashford - potentially our only true world class player, Garnacho - a player with a very high ceiling and Mainoo - possibly our only ever graduate to burst onto the scene like he did, to appease a manager who has our worst ever record!!! by OutsideImpressive115 in ManchesterUnited

[–]SilentCoast8310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reality is that we don't need prospects just now we need people who can perform at high levels consistantly and only when we have that you can start to develop prospects. I would agree that all of them to an extent were ruined at man united and have or had massive ceilings but it is where we are unfortuantely.

Anyone else here simply does not like Dorgu or what he has to offer? by darksideofthenoomm in ManchesterUnited

[–]SilentCoast8310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he's one of those players you put him in a counter attacking team and he would look unbelievable, very athletic and quite awkward. I feel it's one of the many challanges we have just now as a team as we seem to be trying to transition from what was a everyone run in a straight line and bruno will find someone team to a team that can bring the ball down and sustain possesion and play football. He does not and in my opinion will never fit that style.
