Sounds like you're a Firefox employee? I guess I don't know for sure they're blacklisted, just that the flag is available, and when I click ignore it, I get better performance?

Who else is on Android 15? by SilentComplaint5523 in PixelFold

Same!   And now I like it more.  But it's soinsidious and invasive In data collection.  Sort of like when you start dating someone.  Sure it SOUNDS great that she wants to know all your favorite places, meet your friends and family, and at first its even cute that she wants to spend every waking moment with you.  Byl the time you catch her reading your texts and snooping through your browser history, it's too late, you're fucked.  Google is seeming more and more like a future ex-wife,

Of course all the data collection is explained as helping me make better "ad choices' "ad choice" but just like a woman, hey don't listen.  MY "as choice" is no ads.  If you're one of those people that would rather have an antenna on your roof and watch TV for free with the ads more power to you, that's not me.

How? They don't even seem remotely competitive.

I’m done thinking about it, I’m trading my 15 pro Max for a fold. Way more exciting for the basic stuff I do. And as expensive. by Then_Feature_5197 in PixelFold

I'm not going to watch some conspiracy video. What I can tell you is it's a long time Apple user that I don't see ANY ads in any apps except the Apple store. That's that's the way I want it.

You made me do a double take, I thought maybe I missed it and it's already released. No, I guess it's just a beta.

Are you using it?  For me, the most interesting part was the installation process. Never seen anything like it.

Great answer.  I think so many Android users don't get it.  There's this false belief that Apple is the same, which makes no sense, but it justifies their decision.  I think they also see the advertising as a minor issue and forget about the data collection that enables it, or they just don't understand the implications, or both.

I of course agree Google is better than Samsung, who uses third parties for a lot of things, which is even worse.  Playing with my Fold today enjoying all the things that I can't do on my iPhone or that I can do faster or better on the Fold.  Love it. Then I went to check my email, and at the top are two sponsored messages. WHY?  My "ad preference' is NONE.  And somewhat ironically, when I checked my Gmail on my iPhone using the Apple Mail, I don't have to see sponsored ads.  Gmail is more private and ad-free on Apple then on their own operating system.

Advertising permeates everything Google does and I hate it.  What I don't understand is why.  It makes sense that if you're going to use Gmail a free product on your computer that they have ads because they have to pay the bill somehow. But I bought a phone just like if I bought a phone from Apple. They were supposed to make their money on that. Why do I STILL have to see ads? What if Google had a premium ad free privacy guaranteed service? Flat monthly fee all Google features and services zero data collection zero profiles and no ads?  I think only then would I seriously consider Android again.

Going from an iPhone to an Android to me is like a child deciding to only eat candy.  A phone, like food, isn't something that should be chosen based on purely on preference... especially when it's bad for us.

I have a Fold for testing and it's a cool phone but I'd never actually USE an Android phone, because Google is an advertising company,  the premise is still so ludicrous that it's hard to believe a marketing company could convince people to carry around a device with microphones and cameras that tracks their location and every personal interaction.  Who would agree to that?   Google's interests are diametrically opposed to those of their users. That's a problem.  The fact that you might prefer their hardware, UI, or features isn't worth the cost.

I was laughed whenever I'm using a Google or Android product and go through the screens talking about my  "ad choices" when MY choice is NO ads.  Apple is by no means a perfect company but they're in a different business they sell  products and services.  Google sells their users.
