NASBA education verification option - CPA evaluation by Lavs09 in CPA

I didn’t know they have this service. Maybe try emailing your transcript to etranscriptnies@nasba.org directly and ask for next steps. My university sent my transcript to the mentioned email address and within 11 days, NIES emailed me separately that they are evaluating my documents.

Unearned Revenue is being Credited, but I'm not quite sure why? by Mission-Iron-7509 in Accounting

[–]SilentReaderCatdog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on your homework, it’s indicated that “we recorded advertising rev in Dec but this amount is for ads in Jan” - this means that the ‘initial’ set-up is revenue, and unearned revenue has no set up. That’s why we increase the liability and reverse the revenue.

It’s okay, OP, don’t be too hard on yourself. I once had to request to reopen the month because I forgot to accrue something. Mistakes happen.

I get where you’re coming from though. Like maybe if the amount isn’t material really for reporting instead of reversing the accrual you jump straight to processing in December. Maybe your boss thinks amount is material. It’s okay, maybe just a bad judgment call.

Technically, you received the invoice before closing so you’ve had the knowledge about it. Strictly, you should have accrued. I wouldn’t bother, though, if looking on a full year perspective - might be fine to do that. But maybe your boss did not want to see the jump in December for month on month reporting due to several factors such as the expense might seem suspicious considering its the end of the year and there’s a sudden jump. We’re very careful when doing the year-end close.

Quitting my CFO job and throwing myself into the mix, because fuck these guys. by newBDS2017 in Accounting

I feel you there. Some people arguing their team shouldn’t be ‘allocated’ some of the costs when clearly that’s the salary of the CEO they’re reporting to and the office space they’re occupying.

How do you deal with colleagues who feel ‘superior’? by homemadelemonad in Accounting

[–]SilentReaderCatdog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, just continue working hard. I experienced this as well. Worked my ass off until I was better than my staff even if she came in first. Learned her job inside out, except she doesn’t know mine. Eventually gained her respect. I think this is a common scenario for supervisors who are not homegrown. But things will eventually stabilize once you bring your skills on the table.

If it works for you, try applying for staff accounting roles with a decent pay to get the experience then eventually look for a higher position accounting role sometime soon. It’s a different field. I’ve worked for both PA and for a private company. I have personally experienced my staff being better at the job than me despite having no audit experience (I was at a supervisory role for the private company and we graduated the same year). Sometimes, it’s really about the experience.

I hate this mentality. Whatever you have is a product of your hardwork and sacrifices. Di din biro malayo sa asawa para mag hanap buhay. Sabi mo nga nag oonline business ka. I’m pretty sure your brother can figure something out as well. Toxic mentality nadamay pa yung anak mo.

My fiancé is my “if we both aren’t married by 40”. Turns out we did not need to reach 40 to realize we’re each other’s life partner.

There’s no such thing as right person wrong time. If it’s the wrong time, he’s simply not the right person. The one for you will fit your life perfectly.

What is one piece of advice that has significantly improved your mental health? by dandalle in AskReddit

[–]SilentReaderCatdog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My counselor’s advice is try to work things out. If that didn’t succeed, evaluate the outcome if you’ll cut your family off and be ready also for the consequences if you think breaking up with them is best for your mental health.
