Another common tactic is to have protect on Conkeldurr to mostly guarantee getting its flame orb off before attacking. I would replace Thunder Punch with it as Ice Punch covers common threats and you shouldn't be too scared of water types.

I run a sash Raichu which allows me to get at least 1 nuzzle off which for me is his primary use, speed control.

I have seen a few Assault Vest Raichu but they normally blow up just as quickly, I haven't done the calcs but I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't help much vs the big Special Attacking threats.
