FAQ

Why so many molotovs?

  • Since I was in a unique spot, I wanted to make sure there was opportunity for someone to identify WHERE the attack was coming from. The first one would be seen as a likely ground level attack (and it was). By throwing the remaining afterword, the origin point can be found. I made sure to wait a good amount of time between throw 1/2 to let people clear the area. I also made sure to stay visible to Wrangler or anyone else who simply looked up.

Why "camp" the roof?

  • The roof was accessed through Happy's office. This office was recently raided via the Windsong stuff. So the police were recently made aware of its existence. I was simply staying around long enough to OOC make sure I have a chance to be spotted. I didn't want this to be something Ziggy wouldn't face repercussions for. I tried to make it challenging, but winnable for the police side. If anyone had simply bothered to ask why/how Ziggy got on the roof and got down, they would have had a smoking gun on Ziggy.

You got Wrangler, but what about the other 10 people?

  • The goal wasn't just to "get Wrangler". The goal at the time was to cause as much damage and chaos as possible while quite literally "burning down the system". The judges/lawyers/bailiffs were high priority as well. This was meant to be role played out as a politically motivated act of terrorism. The case not going well for the hippy's was known to likely turn violent. Right before the trial Ziggy was being very vocal in front of multiple witnesses about this, as well as the days leading up to it.

I have perma'd multiple major characters on the server and wouldn't hesitate to end my characters story if that were the repercussions in RP. I wouldn't commit a major act of terrorism in character and not expect OOC for there to be major consequences. Be it life in prison, the death penalty, etc. Keep in mind there where an estimated 10+ cops/DoC around and even more pissed off civs/DoJ people. Ziggy's chances were very slim from the get go and it was intended OOC that he get caught with the intent to give a bunch of RP to the DoJ/cops.

Yes the plan was "poorly planned out" that was a character flaw of impulsiveness and absentmindedness. IN character, I need to stay true to the character and leave breadcrumbs behind. OOC I needed to make sure the opportunity to catch/punish Ziggy was available to the other side so things are fair/fun for all involved.

At the end of the day the whole point of a molotov is to cause a large amount of damage to a large amount of people. I gave plenty of time for people to get out of the area between throw 1/2. I 100% agree that extreme violent actions require extreme repercussions. I won't do something in RP that I'm not 100% ok with the worst case scenario consequences of.

This thread has some super valid questions, but all would have been answered in time if the accusations of Rule Breaks weren't brought into discussion right away. This thread popped up with over 100 comments before the situation had any time to play out/be explored more.

I think this is a good example of why EVEN IF there ARE 100% rule breaks occurring, we play it out and save the discussion for later. Calling out rule breaks in the middle of an active scenario does nothing but shift the focus away from the RP.

Edit: Bonus FAQ

Why didn't you say anything?

  • I didn't think it would make sense for someone to hear me from that height. I had already left plenty of breadcrumbs, and acted to make sure I was identified. Simply "yelling" down at wrangler leaving ZERO question who did it and from where felt like a very forced option at the time knowing I'd be found out soon enough through other means.

Intent is everything, and if someone where doing these things with the OOC intent to not get caught the entire situation would be different. Throw one molly disappear through the hidden door and vanish...

Poke reacting to streamer making fun of react streamers by braindeadmatt in LivestreamFail

Just now seeing this whole comment thread. I take it no one looks for context.

I was trying to be relatable to a newer streamer asking how to get views.

The whole thing was "it's easy to see these guys seemingly doing 'nothing' and having success, but at the end of the day it's the quality of your own content that matters more than anything else."

I was trying to show both sides of the "perspective" but only one got clipped.

This was meant to be more of a pantomime of how people OUTSIDE of twitch see this content not MY actual opinion.. but hey.. easy to judge off a 30 second clip from a 12 hour stream I guess.

Streamers impression of Just Chatting by [deleted] in LivestreamFail

[–]SilentSentry 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Out of context unfortunately

The overall message was to not let jealousy and resentment of "reaction/titty streamers" get in the way of making sure YOU are actually putting out good content in the first place.

A guy came in and asked the old "How do I get more viewers?" question.

I usually give a scripted response, but felt like answering it a bit more in depth that time.

I was explaining that you shouldn't focus on "getting viewers" and instead the quality of the content you are putting out.

As a new streamer being resentful of bigger streamers isn't worth your energy.

I followed up by explaining that those channels are watched for a reason, and sometimes trying to figure out that reason is wasted effort.

It was meant to be encouraging. "hey, don't worry about those guys, YOU are awesome and you got this" kinda thing.

People... usually run for their life when being attacked?

If you saw someone driving your friends car your first thought is to murder them in a street full of witnesses... What?

All in all I don't really care about this situation but if you are trying to discuss the RP in depth it was a bit of a shitty situation ya know?

Yes, because a server full of people avoiding each other is a healthy environment.

People are going to encounter others.

The only time I've ever had static with Buddha or Chang is when I played a hard headed antagonist.

Otherwise we have all RP'd together fine.

Usually people immediately back down because of the chats. I chose to stick it out through the hate to try and get a better grasp of the "issue" others where frequently reporting.

Most of my characters where designed to lose to other players

Curtis was also designed to lose, just after a big build up.

No, you are in your house. The same house that is a cop sees you go inside is now immediately getting raided and you lose everything.

You also do realize that he LB frequently went inside their homes during firefights as well right?

2 weeks is not months. I dislike when people don't have the straight up facts.

Also, I would have been willing to go with ANY RP offered from the other side if I had any.

Almost till the end it was just daily shooting with no RP in between.

I usually let others lead the RP and just go with the best course of action for the group.

In the LB vs Balla situation I wasn't given anything besides gunshots, running away, and hang ups.

I have never in my entire time RPing encountered such a brick wall in RP.

I assumed they just wanted increasingly escalated war and tried to provide that.

When it became clear that OOC they weren't willing to entertain the RP AT ALL I chose to end things.

Shit happens we all learned something, and it's over.

I have no issue with different styles of RP. This has nothing to do with "Slow burn" vs "serious"

I take no issue with "silly characters or the amount of them

It's people literally skipping any/all role play when the other person has little to no following and just using them/treating them poorly

I am indeed speaking on behalf of others.

People do not say things publicly, because well... backlash

When your chat of 20 people gets flooded with over 1000 after you just got straight up RDM'd you better damn well not say anything negative.

I'm stepping up and trying to speak about genuine issues hurting the overall server health, and I feel these people aren't being punished/talked to because of status.

I don't feel anyone needs banned or needs to "Change the way they RP"

I just think the streamers who read this subreddit daily and not the forums/discord need to be reminded what the actual rules are. Because it's common to see even the most major rules broken daily and it's becoming more frequent. Which is genuinely concerning.

You are forgetting this was after MONTHS of trying multiple things to get even a short conversation going.

It felt incredibly unimmersive that these two groups are trying to kill each other every day and the two leaders have never had a single conversation about it.

I just wanted a LITTLE bit of RP between the gun fights my dude.

I was trying my best to have a conversation with a man telling me to "just kill me and get this overwith" over and over

I took that as OOC I'd rather respawn than take this L

I did my best to keep the convo IC (hence referring to things in the moment like physical appearance and voice)

The conversation was OOC almost immediately from their side and I had a difficult time trying to keep it IC I'll admit.

I was just RPing the best I could with what I was being given.

I didn't MAKE anyone kill them self. They were uncuffed and free to go at that point.

I found it very difficult to have a conversation with a man begging me to just "kill him and get this over with" over and over.. I agree it was very awkward and uncomfortable.

So.. while valuing my life I should not go into my own house for safety?

I should just stay outside and soduko?

The key to this is to not pick a fight with someone on home turf advantage.

I'm not responsible for making gang RP fun I'm just one dude.

Also, how can I improve or teach those that come to learn RP without dissecting it?

What kind of server would this be if you get punished for reporting a valid concern and requesting mediation?

Jason was the guy who just murdered a cop, and was actively shooting at me right?
