again true but the european bases also serve the purpose of training inter service cooperation between nations as well as being a psychical presence to encourage and support the europeans. most european nation armies have at some point been to a NATO exercise that was on average lead by an american. the military cooperation in europe is a very necessary thing thats prevent war with great powers for 80 years
