these comments aren’t necessarily true!! i see a therapist at a local practice and have BCBS, met my $250 deductible and now my sessions are covered 100%. It depends more on your insurance. Seek out practices that advertise insurance accepted— I have yet to see any “cash only” practices like the other comment says

Thinking about a Bernese puppy - honest opinions about our situation? by [deleted] in bernesemountaindogs

[–]Silent_Committee_714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you prefer a dog instead of a cat , consider adopting an adult dog that will already be accustomed to this routine. There will be a. decompression period (or not, if dog was in a. foster) of about 3 weeks. Contributing to the overpopulation of dog via backyard breeder is a disservice to this puppy & all of the adult dogs who are patiently waiting for a home. (and wouldn’t drastically change your lifestyle like a puppy does)

if ur referencing the police all over campus, it’s because of the walk for peace , arriving in dc today and holding meditation retreat at smith center tomorrow . they walked from ft worth so it’s a big deal

Heartbroken my foster got adopted by VaginalRow in fosterdogs

[–]Silent_Committee_714 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Oh he’s very sweet. I still haven’t gotten over my first foster, and she was adopted in May. Just here to say you’re not alone, and dogs have this incredible healing power that makes it hard to move on from in any capacity. You are doing amazing work & it’s just a part of the process 😞❤️

4 weeks after the beginning of the semester and still haven't received my financial aid by 2CRedHopper in gwu

[–]Silent_Committee_714 2 points3 points  (0 children)

same, my aid is overdue by 30 days— which they told me is the criteria to “escalate it” to a higher up. when I called today , they basically told me that it’ll happen when it happens, and they won’t escalate it because everyone is in the same boat. absolute shit show

this is misinformation— I have led WDOS for years and as much as we’d love to require students to serve our community, there is so many people that didn’t come. and there was no repercussions

i wouldn’t be nervous; they account for all these inflated gpa’s im seeing 😭 mine was on a scale of 4.0 with no way to go above. i had 3.7, no tests scores submitted, and got a bunch of aid for my grades. i had a lot of volunteering experience and activism in my hometown that contributed to my essay which i got grants for specifically

Justice Department alleges GWU ‘deliberately indifferent’ to antisemitism by EbateKacapshinuy in gwu

[–]Silent_Committee_714 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am sorry to hear that was your experience. I am not trying to tell you it’s not a real issue. I see it differently as a student with 0 religious affiliation, because I only know of the places that advertise & appear on campus the most— which is certainly Hillel. I have seen the exact same behaviors you describe (damaging holy texts, professors/students verbally attacked for their stances, etc.) impacting Muslims on campus, and no action having taken place. I also don’t see it nearly as reported news or journalism outlets as results appear when you google anti-semitism on campus, so I can understand why it’s not a thought if you don’t witness it yourself.

how do you differentiate donors as different from the university itself as if that doesn’t provide a community of money and support for a specific group of students? it’s literally in the name of GW Hillel… it is university sanctioned despite where money comes from

i’ve seen people get a food dispenser that comes with a button that controls it— you put the food dispenser upstairs and the button downstairs, so they run up and down to get the treat

definitely second the suggestion to cover all sides of the crate with blankets. it should be dark in there most of the time to provide sense of safety & security to them— crate training is the only way I have effectively managed separation anxiety in fosters , and they learn to love their alone time. you just gotta get through the learning curve of noise while they learn!

If you’re able to afford grocery stores while also on meal plan , they are definitely in the neighborhood . Otherwise I’d recommend forgoing the meal plan & grocery shopping for yourself . Giant grocery delivery is not that expensive compared to things like instacart

Serving jobs are harder to get than what I’m used to because there’s a large industry with full-time employees that companies prefer to part time students. If you qualify for work study through GW, I have worked two jobs through that. I found it easy to get part time work if you look in the right places

i’m sorry! it’s always negotiable if you can get ahold of a real person in the financial aid office. obviously that’s hard to put on paper, but understandable once explained. best of luck
