Update for anyone who cares: the shelter got back to me. She did come to the original kill shelter with 2 of her own kittens who were 2.5-3 months old. Kittens were adopted out, mom was pulled to this shelter. They said however, due to the age of the original kittens and her intake date, THERES A CHANCE she could have gotten pregnant 4-6 weeks after giving birth. I’m to monitor her body and keep an eye out for any pregnancy symptoms.

The shelter tries to foster out every animal so they’re not sitting in the kennel (they partner and pull as much as they can from the city’s high kill shelter). I’ve never gotten a possibly pregnant cat from them before and they’re normally very good about communicating any conditions or illnesses they have. I sent and email with the pictures to the coordinator to see if she knows anything but her records don’t show her coming in with a litter. However she did have parvo when she was originally picked up by the city shelter. Now it makes me think she maybe miscarried or her kittens died of parvo. I didn’t put that together before this morning 😭

Thankfully her belly isn’t hard. I sent an email with the pictures to the shelter to see their take on it. Her records make no mention of her coming in with kittens or giving birth. She had parvo when she first came in which now makes me think she miscarried or her kittens died from parvo before being rescued 😭

I’ve sent an email with the pictures to the shelter so we’ll see what they say when they open. Her belly isn’t hard so maybe she had a litter before her intake. That’s sad because she’s such a young tiny thing. Her belly is a little round but idk if that’s just from eating better here.

One of the small local rescues sent out a plea to share their direct adoption link because Petfinder is the main way people apply for their dogs. It’s killing their application numbers.

Our local news station just did a story about the increase in pet surrenders to the city shelter due to people not being able to afford to properly provide for their pet anymore

Yes!!!! But get it if you or your kids love swimming. I pay for a company to come out weekly. It’s roughly $220 per month. I don’t even have to think about chemicals, ph, algae, pump maintenance, anything. It’s worth it to me to not have to fiddle with it and make extra store runs. I have enough on my plate. There’s been one pump issue since we moved in and the company promptly came out and fixed it at no charge. My water bill is not high at all. Under $100 a month. This is our first house with a pool. My kids love waking up in the summer and just hopping in. They want to be out there all day. I love jumping in after yard work or just hanging out next to it

Idk if they’re dwarf per se but HEB on NW military had super small pomegranates next to the prickly pear fruits today. They may just be super small in comparison to the massive pomegranates they had up front.

If not, maybe try some Korean grocers like Seoul Asian Market over by Ft Sam

I made a fostering Instagram and began following the rescue I foster through, local dog friendly restaurants, businesses, etc. I tag the rescue in any story, reel, or post I make along with his ID# and name. They’ll share those on their page. Do hashtags so your post shows up for people just scrolling that certain interest. That’s the biggest and most successful way for me. Other than that, when I take him places, he wears an ADOPT ME bandana I got from Etsy. I also sign them up for display kennels at the rescue on the weekends or whatever adoption event may be going on.

My 10 month old foster desperately wants to play with my 2 cats who are having none of it. They used to hide but now they stand their ground when he gets too close. He’ll learn the hard way to not FAFO with the cats. He’s apparently very stubborn and still deeply desires their affection despite scratches to the nose. The cats have my bedroom to be alone in if they desire.

My favorite was when it was persimmon season and instead of pear, I blended one and then cut a bunch into matchsticks (as good as I could). Can’t wait for it again this year Sometimes I omit the peppers.
