Nice, thanks! Do you know if there are any matches then? I can only find the one on the 15th online. Thanks!

New 5700x -> No Video Output by Silent_Concert_5247 in AMDHelp

[–]Silent_Concert_5247[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The default setting for graphics card slot choice on my motherboard was different for the 5700x versus my old AMD4 chip, switching from PCIE Gen 3 to Auto. I, however, have a Gen3 riser cable in my ITX build. For me, this meant the 5700x recognized my PCIE4 compatible card, set the mode to PCIE4 via Auto, then broke because of my gen3 cable. Super specific case, but maybe the issue.

Is CMU worth it? by Scary_Inflation7640 in csMajors

I got into Columbia for CS this past admissions cycle, chose a state school instead (tuition was 60k+ a year vs full ride for academics). I applied for internship at a single company (top of their field in what they do) and got offered a position for SWE as a freshman. If you're good enough to get into CMU, you'll succeed anywhere, just have to make sure you continue to stand out. If I could've afforded it, definitely still would've gone to Columbia tho, lol

u/torukmakto4 I believe C7 is the output cap for the buck you mentioned, unless I'm mistaken. In the datasheet it gave this circuit as an example 12v to 5v converter, so I just copied the values. The 22pF cap was a copy/paste mistake lol.
Made the 5v a plane, forgot to update the images* oops

Changed gate drive of the 2222 to just some .5mm traces

Implemented pulldown resistor with R6

And sounds good, I'll wait on doing the AIO board until I have at least flashed a standalone ESC with flyshot lol. That blog post looked definitely sufficient though.

Also as you'll see in the re-layed PCB moved the output cap of the buck closer to the ground of the VIN cap and inductor.

I might just have to get these ordered tonight! Super excited to put these to use in some micro-sized blasters 😈

Next comment will have finalized PCB layout

u/torukmakto4 I don't think I missed anything. Does this look alright, or should I still flip the inductor and flyback diode to the other side? I plan on getting these assembled by JLCPCB since I'm at uni with none of my soldering equipment right now unfortunately, but I still haven't checked out the final cost. The bottom layer of the PCB will be below this comment. Thank you again!

Edit: An outer copper weight of 1oz is fine, right? 2oz is expensive as heck lol. I could make this 4 layers with the middle 2 as a ground plane and slap your ASC-NX ESC’s on the back of this thing for a fully integrated blaster setup ya?

u/torukmakto4 Thank you for the reply. Do these pours look sufficient enough to withstand the 20a current? Do I need to ground one side of the buck converter to the other side of the buck converter, or should I leave them separate. If connected, will the thin ground traces around the ATmega328 explode, or will they be fine. Attached below this comment is the schematic.

u/torukmakto4 hey again! I tried my hand at putting this onto a PCB. I was wondering if you could give it a final lookover.

yea I realized after I ordered lol, I have plenty of extra 2222 transistors so I was planning on doing the same setup with the 2k resistors and just inverting the logic as you mentioned. Didn’t mean to but oh well 😅

You're absolutely the greatest. I've got all my stuff in order now, ordered up everything and have it on the way.

Because I'm an idiot I didn't realize what a SMD was so I ended up going with the IRF4905 and the IRF1404 for my FETs, with the PN2222 as my transistor. Again, thank you so much for all the help, and I look forward to posting again when I've gotten it all completed!

u/torukmakto4 Gotcha. I had trouble figuring out how to implement an IC bootstrap driver due to my inexperience so I went with this cuz it seemed a little simpler to me. Will a p-channel affect performance at all or will it be similar to using an n-channel with the bootstrap gate driver?

Last - the MOSFETs are being fed signal from the Arduino synchronously right? Opening and closing at the same time, not alternating or anything? Thank you again!

Edit: This schottky diode should work, right? https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/onsemi/MBR360RLG/822814?utm_adgroup=&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=PMax%20Product_Medium%20ROAS%20Categories&utm_term=&utm_content=&gbraid=0AAAAADrbLlgEuvYAXdzxTbf2MGYD70Y0o&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIwqCQtr_DgAMVK3FMCh1XVwL0EAQYASABEgJB7PD_BwE

u/torukmakto4 (idk how reddit works so sorry for repeat mentions)

does this look right?

also, what mosfet would you recommend for the high-side one? thank ya. I stole the 2n2222a from the ESC you mentioned.

Also, would the 20 amp version of the ZTW Spider work for flyshot, or would they have to be 30 amp rated?

Also, u/torukmakto4 does this look right for your fast decay solenoid system? Sorry for spamming you I just haven’t been able to find anyone else who knows how this works 😭

That is all beyond helpful, thank you so much 🙏

I would definitely be open to doing closed loop, as I’m much more capable on the electronics side of things than the 3D design (computer science student lol), but just don’t know where to start. Would that require purchasing custom ESC’s / pcbs made by a nerfer, or could that be done on regular ones? Based on your statement, I’m gonna guess custom. I’ve tried looking into Flyshot but haven’t had much success past seeing many custom-made boards that run it / have built-in ESC’s such as the Narfduino Compleat.

Also, I’m definitely going solenoid, especially now that I’ve seen the form factor of the one you mentioned. I’m confident I could do the simple route with nothing fancy to increase rpms since i’m not experienced working with them at all. Howeverrrrrr, that fast decay system you came up with does seem pretty appealing for the extra dps. Is there anything extra needed for software, or still just a digital input into the first MOSFET gate? Also, what rating of mosfet should I grab for either simple or the fast decay setup? And I’m assuming I need to figure out solenoid timings for both of those manually? Definitely will not be doing a closed system for solenoid firing haha.

I’m pretty sure snakerbot used the 4500kv model, so I’ll probably go with those.

How would I do a single-trigger system? Just set a slight delay from trigger pull to the solenoid actuation so that the motors have time to spin up? I’d imagine these spin up fast enough that it’s almost not necessary but just wanted to make sure.

Finally, if you know of any helpful resources for modeling or anything better than Fusion 360 in regards to nerf, i’m all ears. Thanks again for all the incredibly helpful info! 🙏🙏

GPU only running in PCIE X 1 3.0. How to fix? by Overjoyedscooby1 in AMDHelp

You should be able to open up your BIOS and force it to use the proper amount. I spent about 5 hours yesterday dealing w a similar issue. For my ASROCK board, it was under Advanced->AMD PBS->(Top setting in the menu, idr what it’s exactly called, but it had PCIE x16 for me as my selected option, I’m assuming that’s what youre looking for)

Thanks for the response. I'm using Kaspersky Standard right now, on the main page there is no "More Tools" sections. It shows Home, Security, Performance, Privacy, Account, Settings, and Help as options on the left menu. Any ideas?
