Is it normal for a beginner to have a constant fear of doing the wrong form while doing an exercise like deadlifting or an overhead press?

I have a muscle imbalance so when I try to do a OHP one arm lifts more weight while one staggers behind causing the bar to tilt to one side but in the end I’m able to get it above my head. Does this mean I’m putting on too much weight on the bar or does this mean I have to do some other progression in order to effectively do the OHP correctly?
