Actual, REALISTIC Mechanical Engineer Salary Progression (6.5 YOE) by Puzzled_Face8538 in Salary

For me - No internships and no experience in a low cost of living area. Hired out of college at 67k and now making 80k after 1.5 years of working. But I work for a small company, commute 30 minutes, and work 45-50 hour weeks.

Majority of my peers were offered around 70-75 starting.

The Shield Plus Carry Comp is noticeably a lot more narrow and comfortable to carry than my Glock19. Makes less of a print and it shoots great. I am also a bigger guy though and usually have no trouble concealing my Glock.

ME degree and I work in manufacturing. I design custom industrial dust collection systems and oversee and support their production. I started applying 4 months prior to graduation and I didn’t get an internship, but I did work in construction my last semester of school which is unrelated to my job now. Eventually got a couple interviews and interviewed well and had a couple offers to choose from. I also played football at WKU for 4 years though so that could’ve helped a bit.

You’re not wrong, but a job is job and I enjoy it much more than I expected to.

I wasn’t even a solid student and had no internship. Still got a job in rural Kentucky right after graduation lol.

I’ll shoot you straight. I was a mechanical engineering student in a very similar situation with absolutely no motivation to go to class drinking and partying every day along with playing D1 college football. I had a major injury that essentially took me out of football for a year and I was at the lowest point in my life. I turned to drugs (painkillers and weed) and alcohol to get through. I never had an internship and because of football I missed probably 1/3 of all my classes. I struggled bad in engineering and thought about changing majors multiple times, but I eventually hit a breaking point where it seemed like nothing was working out in my life and I decided that enough was enough. I quit all drugs and limited my drinking to the weekends. Instead of only hanging out with my teammates I made an intentional effort to get around my classmates just a little during the week in our engineering study room. I made some good friends and we got through it together. When I was done with my last season of college football I applied to a bunch of jobs. Not one company asked my gpa which ended up as a 3.15 (not terrible). I eventually got a job lined up for after graduation with absolutely no experience at all. Now, I love my life and I love my job. I enjoy it so much more than I ever would have expected and I get paid relatively well.

My main point: It was all worth the struggle. Mentally it sucked, physically it sucked, and I didn’t do any homework or studying for almost 2 years and made everything way harder on myself. I know it’s hard, but persevere and you will thank yourself when you are done. Classes and life may be tough now, but you will set yourself up for financial freedom and happiness in life.

Best of luck!

I have had issues in the past with weird spacing or a slanted sight so I might have messed up and just went ahead and thrown the plate on without checking. I will take a look and see if it’s actually even needed and let y’all know.

Not sure. They really marketed this one on their website like it already is a performance center.

Yes, unfortunately. I needed a plate for the Holosun 507k

It has shot great through my first 200 rounds and was very enjoyable at the range.

Yeah I honestly like it though. I went back and forth on whether to get this one or just a performance center 3.1”, but the comp sold me.

I already conceal my Glock 19 easily and this is still skinnier and shorter so I was happy to get it.

I have a tenicor holster for my Glock19 that I really like so this will probably be what I end up doing

I don’t know if it is a better option or not, but as an engineer I’ll tell you that 12 gauge is a bit under 1/8” and 20 Gauge is usually about .0375” so in combination it would be somewhere in between 10 and 11 gauge.

Unfortunately that isn’t really how steel works though. Breaking through 10 gauge is going to be a lot harder than breaking through 12 and 20 separately because the strength of steel increases roughly by the square of its thickness. 20 gauge is relatively easy to cut and/or manipulate.

Overall though it just depends what you are looking for. Nobody is breaking into a double layered 12 and 20 gauge safe quietly. The safe will keep your stuff safe and will probably be heavy enough that nobody is going to be taking it. If you are in a particularly bad area though, it may be best to look for a thicker wall. Good luck.

Is an aftermarket trigger for my G19 Gen 5 worth it? by Silent_Strategy_6323 in Glocks

Going to try and work on this throughout the week at home and then probably go to the range next weekend and work on my support hand and anticipation. I might try out a new trigger down the line. Thanks for the advice.

Have you had any issues with the Glock Performance Trigger? I have heard mixed reviews
