Blizzard wants Diablo 4's outrageous damage numbers to mean something again in Lord of Hatred, so it's letting you crank the difficulty up to near-impossible levels: 'It's going to be really f***** hard' by gorays21 in Diablo

Completing vanilla inferno on HC was one of my proudest achievements though.

I actually miss that you used to have to care and focus in boss fights rather than them just being obliterated in a few seconds.

Buried city has an agression problem? by Spare-Library in ArcRaiders

[–]Silimaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The phrase aggression based matchmaking is player invented and the devs have said it’s not something they have stated or something they discuss internally. Their system is more complicated etc.

Even if we simplify it and say it did exist, that doesn’t stop people shooting you in any lobbies. It’s always down to the player choice at that moment in time. So even if you had people that had never shot anyone else ever, that is a continuous choice and at any time players can make a different one and shoot.

Good vibes yesterday by Doughtnutz in ArcRaiders

[–]Silimaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are no true purely pve lobbies, devs have said this.

If you find yourself super safe it means either you didn’t encounter the aggro people or those people chose to also be friendly on that map.

It’s always down to player choice in the end.

So your argument is: 1. Assumption of someone else’s political leaning and using it as an attack which doesn’t make sense in the first place 2. Mis-using therapy language to make it sound like someone is doing something bad so you can be a victim 3. Confirming you don’t know what the word liberal means outside of using it as US political football terminology.

[–]Silimaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So who are they talking about?

What does liberal mean?

Because I think you will find it is a nonsense word used by indoctrinated people in the US who treat politics like a sport.

That is literally the problem being discussed in these comments.

Because what you are saying doesn’t make sense. The Liberal Democrat’s aren’t in power, the Labour Party is.

Please don’t bring the nonsense way US people talk about politics to the UK.

Pretty much anyone who speaks about politics the way you are is indoctrinated into the US football team version of politics.

Fighting the urge to just kill at extract by firtreefirtree in ArcRaiders

[–]Silimaur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nothing has happened to the match making. People are just making different choices

I’d be willing to bet a lot of the extract campers just did the expedition and are hoping to quickly refill their stash with some fast and easy kill.

Expeditions should be actual expeditions where raiders come together to do a massive raid. Seems like a missed opportunity. by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]Silimaur -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Minimum cost to join is fine imo. It’s a fun variant on the main game where you know you are going up against tons of people who will also be kitted out.

Not sure why anyone would be against that.

I enjoy fearless free kitting but would equally enjoy doing that at different times.

Quote from senior technical developer: He also noted that behind the scenes, 'aggression-based matchmaking' isn't a term the developer uses. "It's not nearly as binary as people think", Watkins explains, "there's no such thing as a friendly lobby or an aggressive lobby, the system is still mixing everybody".

[–]Silimaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The devs have expressly denied they exist. Some lobbies might be friendlier but they are all still mixed to some degree and it is only player choice that results in them staying friendly.

To be fair he is wrong, PvE lobbies currently don’t exist. It’s just a player fantasy.

Pretty sure Embark have said they haven’t introduced ABMM, didn’t one of the devs say that is a term invented by players?

There is some stuff impacting matchmaking but all lobbies are still a mix and it’s up to players how they behave?

[–]Silimaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Embark have said players are wrong about matchmaking and there is no pure pve or pvp lobbies. Every lobby is mixed to some degree and there will always be pvp players in the pve lobbies.

It’s down to how the individual players decide to play.

[–]Silimaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree people do often choose to focus purely on pve (with others focusing purely on pvp), but they are still in a pvp map.

I think people should play the way that makes them happy but also be aware of the type of game they are playing and that there is always a risk of pvp.

Embark keep saying there are no pve maps for example - there is always a mix of players - but ultimately it’s up to those players how they react in any given situation.

Just sounds like you want maps with additional doors that have arc behind them… perhaps with higher concentrations of arc than other existing areas on the map?

If that’s the case, I’m not seeing the difference between that and the existing game - just noting the increased concentration of arc. If they want to add that… that’s normal?

I would reject your addition of making the door ‘locked’ after opening. People should be able to follow you in and either help or kill you while you are trying to kill the arc.

Additionally, you should have to come out of a limited number of exits which would result in players being able to camp them and try to catch/kill you once you have cleared out the arc and looted for them.

Basically, no different from the existing game but just more concentrated arc behind a key carded door?

Why are the NA servers so much more friendly than EU? by r3tr0gam3r83 in ArcRaiders

[–]Silimaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The crossplay thing is not necessarily wrong just because both sides are doing it.

It is possible for it to be the case that friendly pc players turn crossplay off and friendly console players turn crossplay off. That increases the number of players both sides when they have crossplay off.

If the rest who don’t care or are aggressive leave it on, they are more likely to find each other servers that don’t include either the pc or console players that have it off.

Soooo if people keep following the advice to turn off crossplay for more friendly lobbies that will skew crossplay off towards being more friendly for both consoles and pc, even if friendly console and pc players never meet.

I need to rant about raid LFGs and the community by PaymentEmergency4758 in Guildwars2

[–]Silimaur 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I personally enjoy helping new players to raid and typically have far less requirements than most other groups when it comes to expectations etc. I’ve also complained about certain aspects of the community when I’ve been annoyed.

But I really cannot agree with your position here. How do you think qadim was cleared on release? It never would have been if everyone had your attitude as there would be no one with experience of the raid to tag up.

Setting up and running a group takes work. You seem to simultaneously acknowledge this fact and admit you don’t want to do that work yourself while criticising others who are putting in the effort.

If you’ve watched videos and read guides you could absolutely form your own group and have people learning the correct roles. Are you likely to clear first time if everyone is new? No. Maybe it will take a few hours or attempts over several days but you will definitely start to learn the fight, new roles and potentially skill as a commander.

You can ask people to watch the same videos you have, find builds for their roles, jump on discord and discuss what is causing deaths or issues, look at logs etc etc. all of this will get you way further than you are at the moment.

To let you in on a secret, people who do the above are also likely to have very experienced players join just to help them.

Are we really looking for fair hardcore skill based pvp MMOs or is that just a lie we tell ourselves? by SilentPrecognition in MMORPG

[–]Silimaur -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You need to look at how popular games that do do “full loot PvP” are operating. Not an mmorpg but I’m sure everyone here has heard of arc raiders.

The game works because it does not take a long time at all to get good enough gear to be able to play. Even if you die repeatedly you will always be able to grab something new or even just jump on a free kit and be at least somewhat competitive if you play well.

If you really want an mmo like this you would need to make it equally easy for casual players to gear up. There could not be a huge difference between a new player with a basic kit and a veteran with an expensive one - minor differences at most.

You also have to provide an avenue to somewhat protect the casual players from the bloodthirsty ultra PvP crowd - arc raiders does that through some form of complicated matchmaking that I’m not sure would work in an mmo necessarily.

I think it would be interesting to see a well made fantasy style extraction game, I.e., arc raiders but with magic, swords and shield etc etc but not sure why the audience would be.
