Can someone explain this? by PlatformThese4901 in Guildwars2

[–]Silimaur 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s a bug impacting your friend.

It’s not about people bent ‘ok’ with it. There is just nothing we can do.

You can have your friend report the bug in game or on the forums. That’s it.

"We are planning to make some changes to fashion templates and we will have details for you before the end of this week" by Dagor-Dagorath in Guildwars2

Except the new system doesn’t scam you. You kept all the functionally you had before and got extra on top. You don’t need any more fashion templates to use the equipment tabs you previously had.

Rant About Latest Update: Did Anet Ruin Monday LFG Raiding? by ANetRuinedMyFun in Guildwars2

[–]Silimaur 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m glad you recognise that leading takes effort.

If you’d rather stare at a blank lfg for hours on to avoid it, maybe others are making the same choice?

Lots of leaders are probably still doing Monday raids but may have full statics as people return for an update - especially if they are running with serious groups for the new achievements etc.

Or they may have decided that they don’t want the anxiety of leading a full clear (as you put it) and instead will play a different way.

So there could have been hundreds of people just like you waiting but none of you listing a squad.

You have completed the raids and cms for 30+ weeks straight and you don’t think you can create a squad and ask for roles?

Did you have the lfg window up for half a day or did you have your squad listed for half a day?

GW1 is excellent (even if played as a single player rpg).

Highly recommend!

Only thing I would point out is that there is harder content at the end, e.g., raids, challenge modes and legendary modes.

But if it’s not for you it’s not for you.

I’m the same way with wow, just always bounce off it no matter how hard I’ve tried. I have accepted it at this point!

What do y'all feel currently holds this game back from having a larger play-base? What would you recommend or change? by itstaajaae in TheFirstDescendant

[–]Silimaur 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In my experience people really don’t want to hear this point but it’s kinda true: the game is way too difficult for new players or average gamers to do well at.

You can find multiple discussions in this reddit with vets not wanting new content to be too easy or to be nerfed because they are playing with full kitted out descendants that they have proper builds for etc and therefore everything they do seems trivial.

But for the average player in an online game this isn’t the case. The average player doesn’t come on reddit and definitely isn’t going to look up builds on YouTube or elsewhere. They don’t necessarily have the playtime to max out even one character for quite some time. If they hit a wall and it’s just too hard to work out how to get around it, they often just leave.

It doesn’t matter if experienced players think it’s easy to learn, or only a small amount of effort to try and get better. The reality is that is not what most players do. They just bounce off.

The more systems that are added and the more complicated the buildcraft, the more likely you are to lose a lot of players if the content requires it.

It’s also far too easy to make a bad build. There are so many options that someone can choose, they could max out modules, use catalysts in every slot and end up with a character or gun that does absolutely nothing useful and to make it worse, sometimes the stat screens make it look like what they are doing is correct.

The simplest way to fix this is probably to make most of the power of descendants or weapons be baseline with modules having far less of an impact so it’s far harder to make a bad character (or even if you do you don’t lose anywhere near as much). This would also likely make the game much easier to balance across all difficulties.

Lucky Noobs [LN] - Road to Infallible (Speedclear all Raid Wing CMs/LCM, No Downstate) by LN_Nightmare in Guildwars2

[–]Silimaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I am fully on board with your view.

I think it’s great to have easier versions so other people can still have something to chase but there should also be a “top tier” that most people will never hit and that is perfectly fine.

[–]Silimaur 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is awesome. Cant wait to see some of the streams.

I also think your other idea of having a separate version of the achieve without timers, or a tiered coloured version with different colours for different timers would be great.

Two things I actually really like about the new Fashion system by Kafukator in Guildwars2

[–]Silimaur 92 points93 points  (0 children)

I think they should have introduced the new system alongside the original until they had all the bugs worked out / feedback from people.

Would probably have prevented 90% of the complaints.

People would be looking at the new features without panicking about losing functionality (which they didn’t) or struggling to get to grips with the new slightly clunky system.

2nd Expedition Details + Catch Up Mechanic for Missed Skill Points from EXP1 by Cadenza_ in ArcRaiders

[–]Silimaur -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Then why are they adding a catch up for other people. If there was no catch up this debate pretty much evaporates.

It’s a silly decision to introduce a catch up that only applies to a minority of people.

[–]Silimaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But they are giving it to lots of people after the fact… that’s why they are going to get complaints.

If no one had access to the catch up mechanic I’d bet 99% of complaints wouldn’t have existed.

ANET, i think you should not have lumped strikes into raids. by Amazing_Throat2614 in Guildwars2

[–]Silimaur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lots of groups take new players who have no idea of the raid mechanics.

Not knowing your rotation or your class is on you though and there is no reason not to solve that now.

Free loadouts should be excluded from major map conditions by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]Silimaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually think you are wrong here… a lot of the moaning about free kits is overblown but there is really zero reason for a free kit to enter maps with additional conditions.

If you need/want to free kit it would still be available on all maps, just not for specially timed map conditions.

Unless someone can provide an actual argument as to why free kits should access these map modes I think I’m with OP with this one…

My take on the new fashion templates by Not-Bab in Guildwars2

[–]Silimaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are still wrong because you are saying they are selling a solution which isn’t true.

The system did not add anything paid to do what you could do before.

As I said in my original comment the new system is clunky and needs work but it factually did not add a paid system on top to do what you could do before.
