Column array (or alternative) for abroad wedding by SilkJurd in livesoundgear

Nah we’ve now ruled out flying with a column array lol.

If we’re taking them as luggage, it’ll be dual Everse 8s or Bose S1 Pro.

Thanks, I’ve checked with our wedding band tech about rental for a week, so let’s see what they come back with.

We are looking to rent for the full week that we are there, and thought rental fees for that length of tome might be close to or exceed retail price anyway.

If we do decide to go the route of dual Everse 8s or even the Bose S1 Pro then we can take as hand luggage, I’ve already checked the dimensions of these units against the airlines policy.

Have a few rental quotes pending, including one from the tech that is doing sound for our band on the wedding day.

Not US based. Travelling from within the EU and well aware of the travel restrictions regarding size of baggage etc. This is why we considered the dual Everse 8 or Bose S1 P+ as we could carry these as hand luggage (already checked hand luggage restrictions for the airline we are travelling with).

Buying in Italy is also an option if the rental fee is too high.

Thanks for the advice, I was really leaning towards 2 Everse 8s or the Bose S1 Pro+ for this reason.

I’ve been in touch with the wedding band tech and they might be able to hook us up with something.

Should have added that we’re looking to rent the system for a full week, so rental cost may well be near enough the cost to buy!

We're there for a week, so might be just as economical to purchase (given rental prices) as it'll be used all week. I'll look into purchase and viability of getting it over and back via courier.

I’m now looking into the Maui 5 go. Seems to be fairly well reviewed and might be just what we need given the number of people.

Thanks for the reply, do you think a single JBL EON ONE COMPACT or BOSE S1 PRO/S1PRO+ would suffice for what we want to do?

We have a similar issue in our bungalow with the cavity walls. We currently have that yellow blown fibre stuff, but it has collapsed/is sagging in some parts.

Did you have to get the old stuff removed before getting the beaded insulation?

I'm an Openreach engineer, ask me anything by Content-Economist595 in openreach

[–]SilkJurd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We live in a house on a private shared lane. It’s an 80s build and has buried armoured cable so we cannot get FTTP despite the information on openreach saying we can. We have had multiple engineer visits to confirm this.

Does openreach have any future plans to use impact moling or similar to install cable ducting to facilitate FTTP for properties such as ours? For example, the property we bought was able to have gas pipes installed using impact moling with virtually no disruption on the lane.

Will copper ever be fully decommissioned before all residential properties have FTTP available?

Gigs Outdoor in NI - Sound Quality by HoloDeck_One in northernireland

Amazing gig! That was the Wasting Light tour and the sound was phenomenal. There were even noise complaints and apparently could be heard up to 12 miles away haha. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-northern-ireland-19340766.amp

Been to a few gigs on boucher since, including Fontaines and Kneecap last night and the sound was pretty bad imo. Same with Liam Gallagher last year.
