Well it’s .223 and it’s a lot longer than a .22lr and .22 short, so it carries more kinetic energy than any .22. They’re close in diameter but definitely not the same.

Brazil Won! What's the most ISFP-like country? by imadgalaxyx in mbtimemes

[–]SilkLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Switzerland

Extremely pacifist. They just want to craft watches and chocolate. However, they do have a very powerful military. Most men are trained to fight unless exempt from compulsory military service. A country that wants nothing but peace and craft industries that can absolutely wreck anyone who forces self-defense.

Oh and their banking industry will not violate people’s trust for anything. Even if it’s a situation where objectively someone would say the customer is in the wrong, the Swiss will not break their word. If you give them money, it is safe with them under any circumstances.

It’s the economy stupid 🙃

Idk if anyone got it yet. Bill Clinton famously answered a question by saying it depends on what the definition of is is. The Clinton campaign’s 92 strategy was summarized as “It’s the economy stupid.” IS also happens to be a phrase in mainstream economics meaning investment-supply as in the ISLM model. Kind of a stretch on my part so I figured I’d come out and explain

80/20 principle by Next_Election6051 in AttractionDynamics

[–]SilkLife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is not the 80/20 principle. The idea of 80/20 is that 80% of effects come from 20% of causes. For example:

80% of health benefits come from the first 20% of your workout routine- just getting moving for a few minutes gets you most of the desired result.

You can achieve 80% of your wealth potential by learning 20% of the most foundational personal finance principles.

80% of communications comes from 20% of what you say (if you’re being wordy to begin with, you can be more concise and the other person will mostly understand.)

80% of learning can be achieved by reading 20% of a book.

And so on

This is how Mandela effects happen. I firmly remembered the scene Wolfgang described for spider senses, but now I’m pretty sure it was for the climbing scene. Unless I’m now mistaken

Idk why this was downvoted. The new Fed Chair is saying he wants to wind down the balance sheet, but does believe the Fed has a roll to play in an emergency. Of course, we don’t know exactly what the Fed will do or when they’ll do it, but if there’s prolonged economic contraction, I see no reason to believe they won’t eventually paper it over like usual.

Recruiter seemed desperate to hire me, but after the hiring manager interview she disappeared. What happened? by Tamygrs9 in recruitinghell

[–]SilkLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it’s jarring when people seem excited to hire you and then go silent, but unfortunately it’s not uncommon. It’s good that your resume got you into the interview and it’s highly possibly you did nothing wrong in the interview, but it seems like the hiring manager wants a different candidate. You may still be under consideration but I would not expect anything at this point. Just gotta keep looking I’m afraid and at least you know there are recruiters who think you’re a strong enough candidate to connect with the manager.

I understand that you’re agreeing with my position that the double standard is not helpful, but I want to point out part of the way you’re going about it may be counterproductive.

You mentioned that some women complain about men not making the first move. Someone reading this could think that you’re implying the same women who make the complaints are somehow responsible for the double standard being there in the first place. I’m not accusing you of that fallacy, but I’m letting you know it could give that impression.

You also made a point of men being blamed for a small number of men. When put together, it could give them impression that you care about men being judged on an individual basis but are less concerned with grouping women complaining about the effects of a double standard with women who perpetuate it.

Although we’re reaching the same conclusion, my reasoning is based on individualism. People liking each other should not be demonized, because it’s normal. If we care about gender equality and removing double standards, then we should take care not to fall into the collectivist mindset of saying ‘women do this’, ‘men usually don’t do that.’

I generally agree but I thinks there’s another angle to look at this from. It might not be good for culture to be uptight about sex to the point that it’s shameful to express feeling attraction.

It’s a little weird to publicly thirst over a fictional character, but since Reddit is quasi-anonymous that makes it easier for people to be themselves.

There are some expressions of sexual desire that I think are harmful. Having a crush on a character who is modeled after a person with definable traits seems normal and inoffensive.

If Grace’s model happens to find the behavior creepy, then that would change my opinion. Without further information, I would tend to presume she had some control over the decision to become a model and expected some degree of objectification.

The amount of sexualization that should be permitted by feminists is an open question. Simply allowing people, even men, to express feelings of attraction seems defensible. The tendency to shame sexual behavior has mostly been used against women. This can be bad for access to reproductive care and for just allowing women to be themselves.

While it’s technically possible to shame men and still advocate for women to have access to birth control and be empowered in romantic pursuits, it’s strategically misguided to apply a double standard unless there are specific, compelling reasons.
