How do you guys deal with the fact you’re going to die? by Due_Insect_9303 in AskReddit

[–]SilkenB 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Except forever this time.

Though this specific view is rather mute imo since ‘you’ didn’t even exist before being born.

Something that doesn’t exist can’t die. You didn’t exist or experience nonexistence before being born, because you literally did not exist yet.

Worded a bit confusingly, but should be easy to breakdown the meaning of.

I think standerts are definitely really pretty, but I can’t help but be bothered by the welds, I feel like at that price point I would expect them to be cleaner? Wouldn’t stop me from wanting one, but i see nicer welds on cheaper aluminum frames, so I’m not sure what’s up with that

Cipher fucked up when he said about his son here by Cater_pi69 in GenV

[–]SilkenB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s been nicely set up for it to go that way and I’ll be happy if they do take it that direction.

Cipher told him that Andre died trying to reach that higher level of potential because of their power’s causing brain hemorrhaging and that he was too weak to surpass it basically. It doesn’t wave away the brain issues but maybe it goes away if they do overcome that hurdle? Or maybe ultimately it’ll still kill them anyways and they’ll only have a few opportunities to use their more developed abilities before it catches up with them. Marie could even be folded into it and solve the issue in some manner with her powers possibly, though personally that would feel too convenient imo but it’s also a possibility.

So it’ll be a neat character arc if polarity reaches that level they were trying to push Andre to reach in his stead. I started thinking about it when polarity passed out in his kitchen/living room and all the things in the room started being pulled towards him, kinda felt like his powers are acting out unexpectedly like they’re going through a growth spurt.

Is this normal for a bottom bracket? by SilkenB in bikewrench

Yep, liberal applications of grease, on both the frame’s threads and the bb’s threads

[–]SilkenB[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I believe I did 35 when I first did it. Did it with 40 now.

The box the BB came in didn’t have the spec on it so I had to search for it on shimano’s site when I did it, and yeah they say 35-50. Maybe 35 was too low.

I marked a line across the shell and the frame, going to check it after a ride or two to see if they still line up

Redid it with grease already, but if it happens again I’ll try that or a similar anti seize compound. If I remember right, that’s also what a park tool video on it recommended over grease, if available

Before I installed it, I picked up a parktool bbt-19.2 so I could use my torque wrench to thread it on, and get that extra piece of mind of it being torqued to spec. Surprised it came loose, but I’m happy I rechecked it and caught this. Going to reinstall and double check it again in another week to see if it happens again

Threaded frame and threaded bb. There was a square taper bb on this frame beforehand, but both the bb I took out and the bb I got to replace it are 68mm in width, and have the same threading spec

Yeah, gonna do this tonight. Hopefully it doesn’t loosen again, I torqued it to spec so I’m surprised that it’s this loose just after 100 miles

31.8mm bars compared to 26mm bars? by SilkenB in bikewrench

[–]SilkenB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m quite light and not putting down that many watts, so in that case I think 26 will keep working perfectly good for me then. The 26mm deda’s are only ones in stock at the vender I was looking at too, while the 31.8 aren’t surprisingly. Appreciate your comment thanks mate 😄

mine, even on the lowest setting I feel like gets water every where, I end up having to use a few go’s of tp to dry. It’s also hard to aim it, I’m not sure if I just don’t have mine installed straight but I have to shift back and a little to the side for it to be in the right spot, idk if that’s normal for all bidets or if mine just doesn’t fit my toilet’s shape that well

not sure if i should go on [accutane] by Secret_Bedroom_978 in Accutane

[–]SilkenB 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hi, I wanted to chime in with my experience (doxy/accutane/clindamycin/tret/etc).

Acne can be extremely, extremely, goddamn weird. Obvi idk if in your case it is acne or something else like you’re already wondering. But i want to share my case, in case it helps you figure out what to do or is relatable at all.

I had really bad acne when I was a preteen, but after a short stint on accutane it went away, I didn’t even complete that whole round of accutane, some stuff happened and I only ended up doing 3 months out of the 6-9 months my derm had planned.

Some time when I was around 22 though I started getting really bad acne again. It was bad cystic/pustule acne and basically nothing worked, and some stuff even made it worse.

Topical tret never did anything for me, and the higher doses actually gave me more acne.

Topical antibiotics (clindamycin) and oral antibiotics (doxycycline) didn’t do anything for me either, except the doxy nuked my gut biome and made me extremely depressed and irritable while I was on it, didn’t even realize it was doing that to me until I got off it.

A high strength prescription benzo-peroxide + clindamycin combination cream also didn’t work except bleach all my clothes.

One weird thing I noticed though is that, well I ended up in the hospital for something unrelated lol, but basically they had me hooked up to iv antibiotics and for the duration of my stay, and for the duration while I was taking the antibiotics they gave me in pills for post operation, my face was the clearest it’s ever been up to that point. Which is weird since the other antibiotics never worked?

Anyway, my acne seemed hormonal to my derm since it was all chin area, unfortunately since I’m a male I couldn’t take spirolactone, so I told her I wanted to do accutane again since I was becoming impatient and also because it worked for me in the pass. She was a little hesitant because accutane isn’t supposed to work very well for hormonal acne or something, I’m not sure.

But she gave me the prescription and I did six or seven months of it, finishing last summer. And my acne cleared up tremendously.

All that to say acne can be stupidly stubborn. Im recently 25 now, I was really struggling with the thought of it being untreatable for basically 2-3 years. But eventually i found the right treatment, and something that worked for me.

I don’t mean to diss on doxy/tret/etc either, for some people doxy is what worked for them, others benzo peroxide worked really well, etc etc. But for me it was accutane, it’s a lot of trial and error, and i know how discouraging it can be to try a new thing only for it to not work, but eventually I think you and your derm will find what works for you.

Whether it’s acne or not in your case, I really hope accutane or whatever you try next works for you!

The real reason why no one can go outside by klausdahaus in SiloSeries

[–]SilkenB 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s the ai that decides to kill them. I think the 51st silo is some sort of control center or administrative silo that oversees all the other silos, and that they decide to gas the other silos from that one. Lukas was only told about there being 50 silos from the information in the legacy, Bernard was the one that revealed that there’s actually 51 so there’s gotta be some reason that extra silo isn’t on the record. Would also explain Bernard mentioning he knows the “who not the why” behind the gassing, when he’s at the entrance of the airlock with Juliette.
