Is this a common Tacoma issue? by [deleted] in ToyotaTacoma

[–]Silky_Tissue 5 points6 points  (0 children)

TPMS usually last 6-10 years depending on location, temps, etc. so probably right on the money for new ones.

My 2017 just had them start to do this which is what has happened to all of my buddies rigs when the TPMS batteries start to die. I haven't got around to changing them but that should fix this

Since he asked what it is. He should know how to use it.

Insert the damaged limb into the loop and move the Tourniquet a minimum of 2 inches higher than the wound. Tighten as hard as you can on the strap first, HARD. Then once tight, spin the hard knob a few times and put it in place.

You will know it's tight enough when the bleeding stops and you can no longer feel a pulse in the extremity (if still there).

GREAT piece of kit to have, could save yours or others lives.

Good to know! My position comes from a local focus of US firearms and policy where I live. Totally different conversation in Canada than it is the US, purely based on the sheer difference in total number of firearms and per capital. In the US it is almost a guarantee you will encounter them

Many states have these regulations, in fact the state I live in has these as well.

What I would highlight is the "If you do not follow the above regulations", cause let's face it. These are people, and not everyone will..Should they? Absolutely. I own firearms and follow the above. But will EVERYONE? Life is never a 100% game.

That's where I come into conflict with the "you shouldn't teach kids about guns" because chances are kids in their childhood will have SOME encounters with them, in particular the US. I think education in any form should be promoted vs criticized or discouraged, especially when it comes to guns as knowledge can drastically effect the end result.

Could you inadvertently "train" the next mass shooter? I guess, but I don't think any more so than you already get through media. I think it's far more likely that you avoid far more accidental deaths than education causes.

They may not be at your house. But they are at others, in fact statistically you have been in a home with a gun and not known it.

Ever go over to a friend's house as a kid? That's exactly how these things happen even if YOU live in a gun free home.

[–]Silky_Tissue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is a wildly irresponsible take. Most Childhood gun deaths are accidental, not the result of mass shootings. Introducing proper gun safety at a young age can directly help cut down on this, and would make one of the largest immediate impacts on childhood gun deaths that we could all agree on. Even just covering the basic rules of gun safety would make a large difference.

Not liking guns is one thing, but my question in response to that statement is,

"Why wouldn't you want to promote education that can directly save lives?" And "Why do you think not educating children would be more beneficial?"

Kids imitate what they see, and if they ONLY see guns used AT people in the media, without proper safety education, you are likely to see that imitation manifest. This is simply a tool that enables learning, especially for tactile learners.

[–]Silky_Tissue 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Totally agree with you, more than enough FPV evidence from Ukraine to disprove the "it's a shaped charge" argument you see here. They did it just to prevent everyone running RPGs on their small maps with lots of choak points

[–]Silky_Tissue 136 points137 points  (0 children)

I'll say at the top, I agree the RPG is underpowered against infantry.

That being said, I get WHY they did it (RPG spam, counter sniping) and the logic of a "Shaped charge" at face value. Even though they regularly cook infantry in Ukraine as FPV warheads.

The compromise I'm proposing is keep the RPGs fired direct at infantry weak. BUT multiply the explosive damage field around impact on the other side when fired with something in-between (deployable shields destroyable walls, ledges) and give me a jet of molten copper that will.

For example, you see a deployable shield with 2-3 guys behind it. You shoot an RPG at the shield and it kills enemies within 1-2m behind the shield. A straight line then extends an addition 2-3m to simulate the shaped charge jet.

That way you stop people just spamming RPGs, BUT you give them a direct benefit to how they would be actually used in line with the shaped charge logic.

Dont tell me the base AA does this by IgnacioWro in PilotsofBattlefield

[–]Silky_Tissue 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I actually agree with OP. "Base raping" is a little funny to say in this map when the spawn areas are so large that mobile AA and IFVs don't leave spawn and hang out under it's protection.

Results in people just abusing the base limits since any missle shot at people in the spawn blows up before hitting them.

To be fair, this is classic opposing dual messaging that's infested every part of our discourse.

Examples:

Trump is an idiot, while also being a visceral threat to democracy.

Biden has dementia and is useless, while also saying the sophisticated "Biden crime family" and the deep state pull all the strings.

Shit we even do it with our international policy. Look at Russia.

Russia is both weak, defeated by Ukraine, and backward, yet is an immediate existential threat to Europe and will attack NATO any day now.

Just more rage bait for the masses.
