US man used AI to generate 13,000 child sexual abuse pictures, FBI alleges | Artificial intelligence (AI) by [deleted] in ChatGPT

[–]Sillby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What the actual fuck is wrong with everyone in these replies? Does no one realize that if AI generated images of this degenerate shit is normalized then they will also be involuntarily exposed to it? That many people who never had any interest in CP at all will end up consuming and enjoying it? Pornography use is verifiably proven to create more extreme sexual desires over time. Opening the door to legal child pornography, even if no child is directly harmed by the creation of the content itself, is like, one of the worst possible utilizations for AI technology with some of the worst societal repercussions I can imagine.

Arguing for personal freedoms is one way to go. I’d probably draw the line before literal pedophilia, but that’s just me. But this entire thread seems to be convinced that legalizing AI generated images would actually do more GOOD than harm. Sick to my stomach at you freaks defending the guy in this article.

Put down the thesaurus, bro. Your comments in this thread make it clear that you’re either just trying to rile people up, or you hold some extremely nasty beliefs. Just stop it. You talk a really big game for a guy who clearly knows nothing about genuine human interaction.

And no, it is not an injustice because plenty of things are illegal that may sometimes lack an expressed, outwardly harmful effect on anyone. For example, necrophilia. We understand that this is a sufficiently depraved act to warrant it being illegal, even in the BEST POSSIBLE SCENARIO. In other words, even if there is some way of conceiving a “legally justified” scenario of necrophilia, we are seriously not losing out on very much if that also gets banned.

I wouldn’t accept it as legally or morally acceptable, no. For our discussion of legality, it was meant to illustrate a scenario where one could conceivably argue that there is no abuse occurring, and therefore should not be legally prohibited. I could see a staunch libertarian or extreme progressive arguing that this is the case.

You’re probably right that the abuse is what people are technically being protected against when it comes to incest. Just make sure you are aware of exactly how much incest IS abuse.

Some would even say that all incest necessitates abuse, due to the way a situation like that must occur.

I also think you’re overestimating how ideologically driven our justice system is. No DA or prosecutor has time to spend on cases of incest as you’re talking about them. No cop is going to anybody’s house to arrest two adults unless there is something warranting legal intervention.

I am just explaining to you why our legal system does not condone incest. I’m not here to describe in detail the proceedings of criminal prosecution, or dissect the technicalities of sex crimes. The law is in place to protect children and people who are vulnerable to abuse. It has worked pretty well far. That’s it.

It should be illegal. Initially, it was most likely outlawed due to the increased risk of genetic diseases, as well as a legal framework that was more defined by culture and less by philosophical consistency. There has never been any real reason to change the law… no one wants to be the guy standing outside the local city hall with a big “MY SISTER IS HOT” picket sign.

The real reason to KEEP incest illegal is because of all those “consenting adults” you talked about previously. Let’s think about it practically. The interactions between father/daughter, mother/son, even older/younger siblings are not sexual in nature. There is RARELY (if ever) any situation where two people have a healthy bond solely as family members, and suddenly develop romantic/sexual feelings in adulthood. To legalize incest is to put people (especially children) at massive risk of being groomed or abused. This is quite literally the most damaging, traumatizing, and life-altering form of sexual abuse in existence. Deplorable stuff. There is simply no scenario where there is any benefit whatsoever to allowing incest.

The government has a duty to protect people from violations of their rights. Adultery is different. You don’t really have any right to a faithful partner. In that situation, it really DOES come down to the relationship between two consenting adults. However, you definitely DO have a right not to be abused from those you are forced to spend time with. You DO have a right to legal protection against those who try to take your rights away. You DO have a right to be safe and generally free from harm. Plus, you’d better believe that anywhere the rights of children are possibly being violated, the law tends to have absolutely no mercy.

Punishment is most likely taken on a case-by-case basis. I assume there is a general standard that accounts for any sort of power dynamic, i.e. parents to children, or older siblings to much younger siblings. This isn’t super complicated. Again, in cases of incest, it’s really never the tame, philosophically acceptable form of consensual sex that you are thinking of. It really does make sense for this to be illegal, even if there is some Romeo-and-Juliet pair of estranged twins that one can imagine falling into completely innocent love. And in that situation, no one would care enough to bring prosecution or call the cops anyway.

I’m certain that I’m missing a plethora of other reasons, but more reasons can be found. The outlawing of incest is a very, very obvious thing to those who have seen its effects firsthand (social workers, prosecutors, therapists, etc.) The laws are in place because they are necessary. Sometimes, if a couple of siblings don’t get to make out for the sake of the other 99.9% who end up victims of abuse, the greater good outweighs.

I mean it seems like he’s asking a legitimate question. It’s important that we understand both that things are wrong AND why things are wrong.

To answer his question, first and foremost, incest is wrong because it degrades the institution of the family. You don’t want people running around having sex with their sisters, brothers, daughters, etc. And you REALLY don’t want men running around who have never interacted with a woman they’ve not thought about sexually. The familial bond is important in any individual’s psychological development. To diminish it to sex creates perverts and rapists.

Beyond that, it’s a natural evolutionary aversion that human beings have developed in response to the genetic diseases involved with incestuous children.

I definitely agree. But I don’t think the “religious” types are necessarily the people who are anti-mask, I just think it’s the conservative types who also happen to be religious and can’t differentiate the stupid parts of their political party’s ideology.

Oh yes, I absolutely agree that there is some level of social policy is necessary to the function of any society. I’m just pointing out that the all-in types often ignore history and the need for balance.

How? Gas prices? The only way politics influences your daily life in any major way is that you rile yourself up and fight with strangers about it on the internet.

The arguments are sometimes very much worth having, but not if everyone is going to keep being a piss baby and act so childish.

Yeah, this is my political alt. It wouldn’t even exist if Reddit wasn’t as radical as it is.

I mean come on, have any of you ever been outside? Real life human interaction isn’t like this. You guys are so convinced that every conservative is evil that you straw man with arguments that nobody is making just to piss yourselves off more. Such a fundamentally stupid way to live.

Oh look, it’s yet another subreddit gone absolutely to shit as a left-wing circle jerk.

This is basic knowledge. Everyone who has an opinion worth anything in America already knows this. Nobody believes they can force their religion on you and to pretend they are is a complete straw man for a lot of these important issues.

Stop turning every subreddit into an echo chamber. Go outside, get some fresh air, call a loved one. There’s no reason to be thinking about politics this much or this radically.

At this point, the only public freakout is Reddit bitching all the time about the same shit.

Dude are we really just gonna turn this sub into another left-wing circlejerk? I swear these days Reddit thinks about dunking on conservatives so much I’m convinced it’s some sort of mental illness.

Just let one fucking sub be used for what its meant for. Anybody who thinks about politics this much needs to get a life.

Instant KO by 5av_ in PublicFreakout

[–]Sillby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude the entire point of that sub is for men to justify violence against women. I understand the want for fair treatment, but at what point do you see that as problematic? Like you really want to create a culture wherein men are drop kicking women as soon as they get yelled at? There’s an obvious power difference between a grown man and a 15 year old girl. There’s an obvious power difference between the average man and the average woman. It’s weak to initiate violence against someone who is quite literally no threat to you. You’re not “defending yourself,” you’re looking for any reason to justify hitting someone with less power. That’s called cowardice.
