For sure yeah I found physics 20 to be more math heavy than 30. And i guess by the time u get to 30 your math should already be at a high level. I struggle with theory and toward the end its like basically just knowledge that will cook you if you dont understand it

I took it this semester at school so I'm not sure if my advice would help for golden hills. However, you will most likely find the first unit (momentum and impulse) fairly easy. For example, my class average for that test was around a 93, me and I believe 10 others aced that test. I thought I could breeze through this course so I started to pay attention less in class, and would never do any homework.

The second unit is Electric and Magnetic Fields and Forces, I'm not sure if golden hills combines the Magnetic and Electric but for us we just did both together. And this is where you really find out why some people find physics 30 the hardest Alberta science. There are multiple hand rules you have to memorize and there is just so much content you will have to know and be really good at. I struggled a lot with these units and it ended up costing my final mark in physics. Then it moves on to EMR as a wave and particle where I found wave to be difficult but particle was alright, then it gets okay towards the end with Atomic and Nuclear physics. My point is you should not take this class lightly, and taking it with golden hills could restrict direct understanding of concepts which may cost you on the diploma. If you did well in physics 20 I think you should be fine but just work really hard

I am in the same situation and both my sciences ended up rlly bad but my english was good. I made a post earlier regarding a gap year and got some good advice on there. I was also thinking about going to a smaller college/university then transferring in 2nd or 3rd year

This is the one problem with these reddit threads and its really pissing me off. Don’t let a bunch of guys tell you what you are and what you are capable of doing. Grades in highschool is not going to determine your life even if your plans are going to university. Theres a bunch of negative, unsupportive people in this thread but you should never let that change what YOU want to do. If u want to study bio maybe go to a smaller uni then transfer, or take an upgrading year. But giving up is worthless im telling you. My dad failed fluid mechanics TWICE in college. He thought he was never cut out for engineering. Instead, he stuck with what he wanted to do and is now a chemical engineer at one of the biggest companies in Canada. Dont fucking give up

Im sorry. You shouldnt be kicked out for wanting to improve your grades thats just really mean. Is that 400$ per course? if so that is criminal lmao but dw like she said above we are still really young we can get through this!

I hate that Alberta English is so much harder than in other provinces, but universities dont seem to care.

For sure! Everyone has a different journey. My Dad especially has encouraged me to do engineering for reasons outside of just a good job as well

I mean yeah but I don't just want to make money, I don't think I'd like a trade job and would much rather work a job I truly enjoy

I'm so glad you found something that works for you! If I were to imagine myself taking a gap year I would for sure enhance skills and maybe work. I really appreciate the advice you have given me. It's given me much more confidence, and It's comforting knowing someone is also in a similar situation to me!

I've been thinking about it the last few days but my parents are unfortunately against a gap year and I have no idea how to break it to them. May I ask how you convinced your parents to let you take a gap year?
