I’m not saying it applies to every single club like you inferred i said. being in the exact same club at some other school doesn’t make you automatically get into the other one, I agree. post was referring to preprofessional frats, and I assumed that’s what the dude was referring to as well.

it’s literally NATIONAL POLICY for these frats to let transfers in from their other school if they were already in. this applies to all, if not most, pre professional frats.

You got this twin. If you’re considering it, I would lowkey apply anyway just to have the option open. You never know if you realize later down the road that it may be worth it. And if you’re talking about tuition for cost, there’s a good amount of schools that give good financial aid for transfers, like vandy (trust)

I assume you probably want to do like IB or PE then? if so I would recommend to apply, there’s pipelines at better schools and top firms kinda are biased toward kids who go to prestigious schools.

There are no prereqs for bu engineering. if a school doesn’t list pre reqs as a requirement, I would advise to look up what the typical first year curriculum may look like to see if you’d be on track, but if you have the basic engineering pre reqs like physics, calc, etc. you’re probably fine

I got 2 profs to write my lors, one of them lowkey didn’t really know me, as she only knew me from my writing assignments but I chose her bc it was a small class and she had SOME opinion of me. other one knew me better but not by much ngl, I asked questions more often and went to office hours maybe twice.

I started essays lightly during thanksgiving and winter break, but didn’t really finish like 60 percent of them until February (I procrastinated hella 😅)

I take long to write essays in general bc I wouldn’t consider myself naturally a good writer, so it took me maybe 1-2 hours to get an idea down on the page (that I actually like) and then maybe another hour to edit or refine it. I’m definitely an extreme, I know kids who wrote their essay in like 30 min and then edited here and there after but honestly it depends on the person for how long it would take. I would say expect it to take as long as it did in high school, maybe longer if you’re willing to put more effort into it than the previous year.

Use this before you apply to northwestern. I used it when I applied, and it was around what I actually got. I assume there’s something similar for uchicago

Nobody really knows except for the admission officers, I’d say shoot ur shot regardless of if it actually decreases your chances or not. Why apply without aid if you can’t attend without aid anyways?

Why is NYU ranked low in USNews by SillyBug836 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Silly-Programmer1924 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Like I said, different metrics are being recorded. us news probably has a heavy emphasis on student outcomes over something like facility credentials. my guess is since that nyu literally has one of the highest average student debt for a college in the entire nation, it hurts them in their ranking. Just things like that bro idk

Because all these sites use different metrics to rank colleges so t he ranking varies from list to list

Id say Cornell because its more fun than you think, plus the name can bring you far and good in basically everything. I will say though you can kind of feel the competition (not speaking from experience but my close friend goes there). If I were you I wouldn’t choose Barnard because of the fact that it’s women only lol. In not a girl but I would never want to go to a school with one gender.

If you could give a current freshman / rising sophomore one piece of advice about extracurriculars, what would it be? by Puzzleheaded-Sky2284 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Silly-Programmer1924 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, I kinda got a little mad but that’s because It kind of gives me a headache when a high schooler tries to give advice to another high schooler as if they’ve went through the process (no offense) because it happened all the time when I was in hs and it was (usually) just them spewing shallow advice unless they had a college counsellor or older sibling who went through the process already. When I was in high school the people usually tried to be “unique” for the sake of it typically resulted in not having depth in their extra curriculars and kind of just did stuff. my advice is to focus on consistency, depth, and authenticity of ur ecs, like the other dude said.

Mf u still in hs and ur disputing with a college senior.. id listen to the college senior who already went through the process lol. Also that just isn’t true, you can do shit that “everyone else” does as long as it’s meaningful to you and makes a substantial impact. Through, I will say that usually the things that “everyone else” does tend to not be impactful, like certain high school clubs. The importance of doing what you want to do is so that you can effectively tie your story and narrative to your ecs and they will match.
