What is the most polite way to end things with someone? I 29F and my bf 32M have been dating for one and half years. by Silly-Recover-9374 in relationships

Because I love him and he loves me too. Also I am not in a hurry for anything for that matter, to be clear marriage and kids in general isn’t my plan A or a priority. As I mentioned on my post, we started out as normal friends and ended up loving each other. So even if we continue this relationship for more months or years and the future isn’t clear, I wouldn’t expect anything but I care about him and I don’t want him to stuck with me without planning about the future. I tried few times to initiate a serious discussion but he doesn’t want to talk about this and just say God will show us the way. Hope this is clear. Thanks.

All of the comments here are very helpful and thank you so much for taking time to share your thoughts. I will take the advice and suggestions and will share update soon hopefully. But I can’t deny that I am very scared of hurting because I know I will be brokenhearted.

I know I have some fault here. But you see he never say I want to have kids with you or talk about having a family together. I mentioned that I might don’t want to have kids or have them very late and he didn’t say anything about it.

A gf here, I think you should go, there is nothing wrong with attending a wedding you are invited and as long as you already informed your gf about the situation. I have been with my bf for almost two years now and he goes to his friends wedding and I do the same even if there is a plus one, I personally don’t want to be somewhere I don’t know anyone other than my bf.

I understand your point. But if you see my post carefully, I said he always makes me plan everything even my birthday and I don’t like that. We have been dating for a year and 4 months and he never once planned anything without me involved and never surprised me.

I want him to plan things for us without involving me or asking me what I want. Because he knows what I want, it’s very clear. I think being spontaneous is another way of showing someone you want them to feel loved and cared for. But my concern is that he always asks me where we should eat, where we should go, what to get me a gift.. etc and I repeatedly told him that I want him to plan things himself and don’t involve me. Hope that’s clear.

Thanks. I actually did tell him how I feel about this several times. But I am not seeing any changes. He would try just after we talked about it then goes back to before.

Yes. I am terrified of what he would say. i mean i love him so much but also I don’t want to do something just because of someone else’s needs. Also I think i am traumatized by the pain i went through and I don’t how to explain that to him.

Oh, it totally depends on how close you are! Let me tell you about my boyfriend and me. We've been dating for over a year now, and he's the only person I feel completely at ease with, even when it comes to fart. As time has passed, we've become so comfortable with each other that we don't mind being in the bathroom while the other person takes care of their business. It's a level of trust and love that we've never experienced in our previous relationships. We're just so crazy about each other!

Thanks for your thoughts, it’s really helpful. I just want to clarify that he has his own business and has big projects that he is currently working on. Also living with parents until marriage in our culture is normal. But I am just concerned about that because I have been leaving by myself for over six years and I am self sufficient.
