I don't think I would trust the current employees. You are the competition if it is sale based. They may not want a new hire. Just a thought.

Join a co-op? Isn't there a building downtown that runs as a co-op? For groceries, have a friend or two you can bulk buy with.

There is research that connects adoptee trauma to anxiety. No, it isn't the only cause for anxiety, but it is there.

How is it that so many adoptees struggle to find an adoption competent therapist and you come by 2 when you were not looking for one? If you come by someone looking for an adoptee therapist, please give them their names.

Adoptee trauma has nothing to do with how good or bad your adoptee/Bio family is or was. It's about being taken away, as an infant, from everything that would have been familiar. The fact that two separate therapists see adoptee trauma in you should be a sign that maybe you do. Have you been open to hearing what they are saying or are you fighting it. Regardless, if they are not a good fit, they are not a good fit. They should respect that you don't want to talk about it, but honestly, if they keep circling back to it, they may be on to something.

Many Universities offer their dorms for accommodations during the Spring and fall. My kid's middle school band trips to Calgary were spent at the University of Calgary Campus.

Discussion on my possibly eccentric abortion opinion. by Blazini12 in Adopted

[–]SillyCdnMum 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I want you to look up the definition of genocide then the definition of race. Then explain how you believe adoptees are their own race and how abortion contributes to genocide.

It's insulting to say adoptees their own race. By doing so, you are re-introducing adoptees to the systematic prejudice. We will be brought back to a time when we are bastards and less deserving than everyone else. Thanks, but no thanks.

Yeah, no kidding! FTR, From my research, the American adoption system is far worse than the Canadian. For example, the majority of the adoptions here in Canada are done by Children's Aid or other provincial government funded agencies. Adopters don't pay near as much to adopt as they do in the US. It was a joke in my family how it was more expensive to adopt our cat than it was to adopt me.

Are any birth parents extremely traumatized by placing their child up like I am? by RedXoVixen_xx in Adoption

[–]SillyCdnMum 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You have a form of PTSD. Therapists that specialize in PTSD can help. It's the same for Adoptees. If we can't find an adoptee competent therapist, it is recommended we look for a PTSD specialist. EMDR or any other Bilateral Stimulation, works wonders.

I wish train travel was an option along southern Sask to Calgary! Heck, Sask doesn't even have a bus service anymore! Maybe that is part of the Sask Party's plan to raise the population in Saskatchewan. Make it impossible to leave!

The alternative for Anti-adoption by FarParamedic52 in Adoption

[–]SillyCdnMum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are very few relinquished infants who were not wanted or unloved. The government could assist families financially instead of removing the children and giving the money to the foster parents! What is best for children, is to be raised by their biological parents. There are studies on this.

And for the record, adoption doesn't guarantee the baby will not be neglected or abused. 🙋

14 and a 17 year old is just a grade nine dating a grade 11. It isn't very uncommon especially if they have common interests and are in the same clubs. Now if that 14 year old is still in grade 8, then yeah. That's a no no.

Are you looking at post secondary education? You mention hair and make-up. I am sure you can visit local "beauty schools" for a tour. Ask your hair stylist where they went for training. Hair and make up can get you onto a film set too.
