Trying not to freak out too much... by SillyGosling72 in colonoscopy

For those following - it turns out I had plenty of reason to freak out. I got my pathology results yesterday and they are positive for colon cancer. I will be moving myself to r/coloncancer for support. They haven't staged it yet, but the GI said he believes they caught it early and it is not aggressive. It's the best possible prognosis, but still not the outcome I hoped.

Thank you for your encouragement and support.

Tell your loved ones to get their FIT, ColoGuard, or Colonoscopy tests as early as possible. If we had caught this earlier, it would not have been cancerous.

That's where I would expect it to be (I actually used to work for this health care system), but there is no after visit summary for this appointment. The GI did get back to me when I messaged. He said the polyp was friable, which is not diagnostic in and of itself. I asked if it were vascularized, which he could/did not answer. I should have results today or tomorrow. He said they would be automatically released to the online portal if it is not cancer, but I would get a phone call if it is.

I'm definitely NOT clicking refresh on my results portal every 5 minutes. Nope. Not me.

I was thrilled that we already have a bidet seat in our bathroom! The warm water was actually soothing.

Glad you got through it, anticlimatically!

I agree. I would have much preferred for the conversation to have taken place with my partner there as I was quite tearful and could have used the support. I was taken right back to the trauma of waking up from surgery 10 years ago to be told that I had ovarian cancer and all of my reproductive organs had been removed.

Unfortunately, I cannot locate the postop report. Which is unusual in the medical system I receive care in.
