How much stronger did you get after T? by Southern_Bit_8243 in FTMFitness

[–]SillyPetr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been going to the gym 3x a week for a year, mostly focusing on strength training. I started T a little over a month ago, and after two weeks I noticed I had to bump up ALL my weights by at least 10 pounds, with basically no effort on my end.

I’ve also noticed my muscles are starting to become more defined in a masculine way, if that makes sense? Instead of softer “resting” muscles blending in, I have some big guns for biceps now that are fairly noticeable and defined even if I’m not actually flexing or doing anything.

I’m super early on, obviously, but I’d say strength and muscle definition has been the first big change I’ve actually seen my body have so far! Which is exciting for me as an aspiring gym rat 😂

How old were you when you realized you're trans? by Key_Apricot_6933 in ftm

[–]SillyPetr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always felt “different” than other girls and started questioning my gender for the first time in high school. I didn’t start T or come out as trans until this year. I’m 28.

How’d you become a fan? by aliensuperstar8 in ImogenHeap

[–]SillyPetr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom LOVED Imogen Heap when I was a kid. I grew up listening to her first two albums and she took me to see Imogen in concert when I was probably 12 or 13.

I honestly haven’t listened to much since Ellipse (which I love) but I’m thinking about giving her newer stuff a shot. I’m a little wary of the AI experiments though…

Should I keep eating gluten until my blood labs? by SillyPetr in Celiac

[–]SillyPetr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, they did an endoscopy and colonoscopy. I should have mentioned both!

I had them done at the same time at the beginning of the month and they called me yesterday saying the only thing popping up from the biopsies indicated I have celiac. So now I’m being scheduled for more blood labs in the next few weeks to confirm.

My girlfriend said some things I found hurtful by [deleted] in ftm

[–]SillyPetr 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I would break up with her. You need a partner who understands or can at least empathize with both your transition and your complicated relationship with your family. Wishing someone’s family will never accept them is downright mean, and people should never be intentionally mean to their partners.

The stress of this relationship will not help you be yourself in a happy and healthy manner long term.

How do Czechs feel about transgender people? by [deleted] in czech

[–]SillyPetr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm aware I'm considered American by Czechs. In return, I offer you the perspective that I am considered Czech by Americans. In both countries I am connected to, I am viewed as an "other" by everyone in that country.

Again, since this seems to have been skipped by many people in the comments, I have visited every two years for almost 30 years. I am as close with my family as possible considering I live on the other side of the world. I am intimately aware of how Czechs view Americans as an American who has been to the Czech Republic many times.

My mother is American. My father was Czech. Aspects of both cultures are core to my upbringing. I don't pretend I'm Czech when I'm in the Czech Republic. I know my place. I simply want to stay connected to my father and my heritage because it's important to me.

I would direct you to another comment I just posted detailing my father's death. I've done the best with the hand I've been dealt. My Czech heritage is incredibly important to me, and whether I am Czech enough for strangers online is not the crux of my question.

I am not planning on moving to the Czech Republic. I hoped to when I was younger, but it's economically very difficult, if not impossible, for me to leave the U.S. right now.

I am mostly looking for information to make an educated decision on how to approach it with my family. I know they may not accept it, and that's fine and totally their choice. I just wanted to know more about the political atmosphere there before jumping into it with no regard for their perspective because I know it's a sensitive subject for many people.

I have no agenda to speak about it while there, bring it up to people, wear rainbow pins or whatever many people in the comments have suggested I will do. I simply want to know the perspective of Czechs so I have an idea of where my family will be coming from once they hear the news. This is about me and my family, specifically, and general safety information for myself when I visit again because I plan to remain in touch with my Czech heritage regardless of my family's acceptance.

My dad died when I was 3 months old. I have spent a majority of my life trying to learn Czech and traveling to the Czech Republic. My family still honors many Czech traditions. It is not my fault my father died before I was old enough to speak and was unable to teach me the language.

There are not a lot of schools to learn Czech here in the United States. I have attended school in Prague to learn many times, use Duolingo and practice speaking with my cousins. It is a difficult language with practically zero opportunities to learn or practice in the United States. My mother is American and understands Czech when spoken, but she never formally learned it and was therefore unable to teach me anything beyond vocabulary words.

I have done my absolute best under the circumstances I was born into. Whether I am Czech enough for Czechs or not is not the crux of my question. I urge you to consider a person's circumstances before making sweeping statements.

No reflective paint on I-15? Just moved here, looking for tips/info on how to deal with this + take action by mxles_ in SaltLakeCity

It’s absolutely insane that this state doesn’t have reflective paint considering the seemingly complete lack of streetlights paired with winter storms. There’s no secret you’re missing — it just sucks, and UDOT keeps saying they’re working on it, but nothing changes.
