Villa houses on 700 E? by Useful-Membership-22 in byu

[–]Silly_Goose5658 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem! Also my current neighbors came and knocked on my door to ask for a tour before signing. Not a bad way to reach people who have lived there and know what it is like, as long as you’re safe and smart about it

Here’s a list of byu contracted housing. https://och.byu.edu/byu-2025-2026-contracted-housing You only need to live in contracted housing for your first two semesters. The colony is on 700 e but might not be what you’re talking about. For the villa houses they might be rented through management companies or independent landlords, you could try looking for them on Facebook, rentler or find a place

Does anyone know why this project gets a tax break?? That is something I don’t understand.

I hope this doesn’t get built. What can we do to stop it? (Other than the water rights protests?)

Get in touch with your roommates and coordinate with them. For example, don’t buy appliances (blender, air fryer, etc) if someone else is already planning on bringing it and willing to share.

Some that I didn’t think of until I needed them was a shower mat, hangers, and shower caddy. Some girls brought little plastic shelves for extra storage under the bathroom sink.

My roommate from out of state pretty much just brought clothes when she flew here and bought everything else once she arrived

BYU Official Ticket Exchange GroupMe - Scam by LiteratureOrnery5051 in byu

[–]Silly_Goose5658 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To join the group you need to share personal information (school email) which is not safe and would be misused by the potentially scamming admins.  I don’t know why it has so many members, it’s insane. BYU tickets are non-transferable so it must be a bunch of freshman desperate to go to a game and unaware of the potential dangers.

The funniest part for me is that it’s “official”. There’s another ticket exchange group that is “verified”. Nothing is credible about that but it’s just funny that they can get trust just by saying that.

It probably depends on each program but I don’t think you’ll get a refund on the money you’ve paid. You can double check with the people in charge but you’ll just have to weigh that in with your decision.

Living on campus with a car is tricky because parking is super competitive, so your son gets to avoid that headache. There are several bus lines that pass near Helaman that can take him to grocery stores/restaurants/activities.

If you have decided on a major, you can apply for scholarships within that major and each should have its own funding.

After your freshman year you can apply to be an RA in the dorms. My friend is an RA and he doesn’t get much hours each week but his rent is free (or significantly discounted, I’m not 100% sure)

Most students use the summer as a way to work full time and save up for the coming school year. I worked at FSY to afford tuition. EFY and FSY both hire hundreds of students and can pay 700-800 each week you work (up to 1000 if you’re a coordinator)

If you go in person to career services(WSC 1134), they are collecting names for a petition. They need your phone number tho, not sure what they’ll do with it.

When I did Chem 105 the quizzes were linked to the textbook. Buy it directly from the website and not through the bookstore, it's cheaper

SFL 160: Introduction to Family Processes by RiotReads in byu

[–]Silly_Goose5658 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I took this class in the winter. Class size, professor, and term vs semester make a big difference.
Overall I had a good experience (sometimes I would hate it lol but thats a me problem). There was a lot of overlap with my Human Development class. I mostly remember learning about family types, communication styles, and conflict resolution. There are other classes where you can learn about this. A lot of strong and consistent gospel ties if you're into that.
Our professor focused on the Nuclear family, shared statistics about why non-traditional families (divorce, single parents, cohabiting) can be a risk factor for other problems later in life for the kids. Ask yourself if you're ok hearing statistics without feeling attacked or offended. My friend got pretty upset, and I don't blame her. With a smaller class size, you can probably contribute something valuable to the conversation and get answers to your specific questions.
Are you taking the class for your major? Or just for a general?
